Bale guy loses his load

It looked grey and dreary when the magpies woke me at 6 but the day improved and once the coffee went off and was served the sun was burning thru the clouds. I let Lola out on her own this am and once dressed went and took Switch's fly sheet off.

We checked another chore off the list: figuring a way to secure the cute little bird bath Shaina gave me for Christmas. The pegs included did not work when I put it in the garden if you remember and it even got cracked as it rolled across the yard but this time a hole was drilled in the base and 1" conduit pipe hammered into the ground and run up thru it then secured with spikes. Hopefully this works.

quite the collection going up

Flowers were pruned, transplanted and pulled while S looped the field on a gopher patrol. Our 30 year angel found a spot in the island too. Leftover pizza lunch then S was sound asleep in big brown as I did some marketing & accounting. After his nap S got the pressure washer still out, we moved the deck furniture on the front but first a quick rip with his new blower. He washed the deck but sadly it did not remove the grime that was on the boards and really seems to be a waste of time ;(.

Britt and Cooper came out as the deck washing was happening around 1:30. She cleaned tack a bit as I tossed in another fly sheet to wash then was off for her lesson that was at 3. I went out and trimmed Switch's feet and took her for a bareback spin. S ran to town in fireball to gas it up for a road trip to Banff tomorrow to see Shaina. He grabbed some groceries and booze too. The horse trailer got a quick cleanout then back inside for some shade. It is hot one at 23 full on sun no wind.

The last bale guy showed up before 5 for S to load 5 bales as I prepped the veggies, put on the roast and tossed in another fly sheet to wash and hung the other out to dry. He was back around 5:30 for another 5 and off but called a few minutes later having turned the corner to fast and rolling the top 2 bales off across the highway. This took over an hour for S to go with skid steer and retrieve them from the ditch. He ended up bringing the one that bounced down a steep ditch snapping barb wire off the posts and bringing back to the house as some of the twine was snapped. He went back and replaced the broke one and loaded two back on and sent him on his way.

In the meantime I walked the dogs as Britt returned from her lesson and hoof trimming then home for a shower. The roast and veggies were shut off at 6:30 but now it was after 7 so I carved it up and Britt and I started. S joined after moving 5 more bales out to the road off the grass seeing he was there. While I was carving I had the Etsy cash register!! It was the little black crate.

B and I took all 4 horses for a ride but it was a quick and crazy ride as KD and Pepper hated the bugs. Once back we put bug sheets on them all, Bird was fed and they were released. It was now after 8:30 so B and Coop were off for home, S was out of the shower and laying in bed on his phone while I found a box for the crate, printed the label and wrote todays blog before calling it done.

This is KD's bug reaction for the whole ride
