Truth and Reconciliation Day

It was another gray hazy day out with wind when I let the dogs out and got them fed. Milk kefir was strained and frozen and more in jars to ferment. S was up and turned on the coffee pot for our wake-up beverage for the day. I did marketing and he perused online. He also chatted on the phone with his old boss while I put a roast in the slow cooker for supper, mixed up a batch of sourdough pizza dough then fed the jar.

Today is the first federal truth and reconciliation holiday, thanks to Deb for our t-shirts <3

S has the dogs rapt attention

A wee mist of rain landed on the windows but not much. I headed to the garage to put another coat of clear sealer on the table top then get busy putting a second coat of white on the dresser. S took the ranger to the gate and brought the solar battery to the shop to charge and prep for fall.

The design filled in in white before second coat applied after 1st coat sanded

Lunch was a bowl of the yummy soup before S hitting big brown for a nap and I worked on the blog. I then headed out to work on the table base adding a coat of clear primer and a 4th coat of clear on tabletop. After his nap S started watering trees with the under-deck water and did hot tub filters and chemicals. We stopped a 3 for a cold beer then he was back at his tasks and I unloaded more trailer stuff and got the bedding washed. I dug the second last potato plant for supper too.

S wanted a part; a compressed air connection to winterize the trailer so brought the fireball over to run to town in. He found a mouse nest that needed cleaning out as I changed my clothes. We made it to the dump at 4:55 just in time to toss. He found his part at HH then we went to Origin's for a beverage compliments of the Moore's who left a gift card there for us, THANK YOU!!

We filled the fireball with fuel paying more for dyed gas then regular pump prices then headed home. We were back before 6. I scrubbed and cooked the potatoes and sauteed zucchini (yep it is coming to an end) to go with the delicious roast supper.

B was out to do her usual feed in less than half hour now seeing it is getting dark earlier. After she left we jumped in the hot tub. Shower and iPad time for us with one dozing off fairly quickly. One show was 7 days Out: Kentucky Derby. It was interesting but 2018 when Justify won the triple crown.

Nathan sent me these pics of the girls at the famous gum wall and some kind of statue

Soup kinda day

The day was gloomy and hazy and possible rain impending. The animals were released and fed and coffee enjoyed while I did some quick marketing. I put on a pot of bison soup bones to simmer for the day. The rain started after 9 before I was off to town as Sheldon's online course began. Amanda, Mom and I met with a mental health care lead for a 2 hour meeting. I had a short visit with Dad after then ran to get my foot x-rays done at the hospital. Cooper was picked up next then a couple glass floats and a wrap for my lunch then off for home.

I was back home to eat my wrap after 1 as S was waiting his call from Matt to move the last bags of oats. He was off at 1:30 as I got busy working on the blog that is 4 days behind. The sun peeked out as I headed to the garage before 3; time to start painting the dresser after sanding the filled circles.

the customer hoped to save the turquoise paint in the details which I did my best to, but I am not digging it so sent her these pics. She agreed, I will paint them in on second coat.

Working on marketing and blogging I had my pack around me for company.

Once the drawer front was painted, I tipped it sideways to glue a broken bottom edge and left all to dry

I was painting away when S returned before 4. He pulled out the pressure washer and hosed off the ranger seeing it was damp from today's rain then he moved on to the trailer. After finishing the first coat of paint I cleaned the cat litter box then decided to dump completely, scrub and let dry.

The soup was completed with S claiming best soup ever. B arrived right behind Matt and Theo who were dropping off some straw bales and oats. B fed horses then came in for a bowl of soup as well as Goslings went home. I was out in the garage putting the first coat of staining oil on the dining table. She said it was the best soup ever and asked to take home a jar full for her work and Dave. And she would like the recipe so I came in and wrote out roughly what I did as it is all out of my head :)

She was off taking Cooper at 7:45. S and I finished the last 2 episodes of season 5 of Animal Kingdom at 10 pm. Perfect timing as I went out to put a second stain oil coat on while S caught up on sports. Back inside I watched some Selling OC before light out.

Back to the ranch and reality

Another blustery morning start at only plus 9. S hustled off to the bathroom with H as I got dishes put away and coffee going. We relaxed in the trailer for a bit with me trying to make blog notes and S on his phone internet, but it is sketchy which is nice to have a break. I convinced him to join H and I for a walk. We walked to the store and back putting on 1.7 miles in an hour.

Harley has the zoomies videos

Back at camp we played Uno in the sunshine as it was now warming up. Lunch was egg sandwiches, but S took his a bit farther slicing his on his bread and grilling with cheese. Then it was cleanup and pack up. We have this nailed down pretty good too having everything done and pulling out by 1 pm. A stop at the dump station then we stopped at the park office and took the 1.1 mile Morane loop.

crossing this log was allot higher than it looks, see video below for better view

Both H and S were officially done their hiking for the trip, H was stretched out in the backseat napping ASAP. We pulled out on the highway heading west 48 hours after we pulled in almost exactly. We pulled into Crowfoot area where Kaylin has her shop in Calgary and parked in big Rona parking lot. I ran across the street and grabbed us a cold drink as 28 out. Nathan brought us Lexi not long after then he was off for last minute errands before they leave tomorrow for Seattle. We then headed east again going thru town to fill the truck with fuel then home to the ranch before 5. It is now 29 out... on September 28!!

Cooper was here for the day. I unloaded some stuff, fed H then ran over to the neighbors for some milk for H - no meat this or last week. I also grabbed the mail then back to the ranch. S was watching ball but made some frosty pina colada's that we enjoyed sitting on the deck before back to the game.

I cooked us a chicken zucchini sautéed with S’s favorite cheese pasta. (but it was not OG KD but healthier Annie's) B was out after 7 just in time to join us for supper I made. She then fed quick, put cats away then she and Coop headed home after 7:30. Time for a hot tub then shower and into bed to watch a couple more Animal Kingdoms. I then watched a Selling OC while S caught all the sports highlights.

Harley and I hike on another beauty 23 day

The morning started out blustery in the morning so after taking H out for her bathroom break, we came back in to relax in the trailer with a cup of coffee after sorting the power issues again. A bowl of cereal and a banana then I vacuumed the trailer while S rested on the couch. H and I headed out on a 2 ½ mile hike hustling in 45 minutes.

When we got back to the trailer S had taken his coffee and walked the other way to the picnic area west. He was back in short order with us all walking back there to sit in the sun with a .7 mile- ½ hour hike. That was S's hike for the day, he was not feeling athletic today.

Lunch time back at the trailer S grilled up the cheese sandwiches I passed him to go with a salad I made. We moved down to the river's edge just behind our site E5 to relax in the sun and H had a bit of free time. When the wind picked up, we moved back to camp and played cards. It was a beauty 23 out here but 28 in the city.

Our rivers edge view video

S then had another nap in his recliner chair while H and I hiked around in the sunshine.

Back at camp it was time to make supper which was chopped zucchini and tomatoes which S sautéed on the camp stove with souvlaki on the BBQ; Yummy and easy. S made a fire as I washed up dishes which we enjoyed for a bit before I headed in for a hot shower which felt so good. S came in for one after the water heater refilled then we watched another Animal Kingdom.

Off to the mountains again

I woke with a headache, boo as today is our go camping day. I got the usual chores done as S made coffee then I got to marketing. I had to load videos for the ATV day post before we could head out. We finally got H loaded up and headed out by 10. We headed to town for fuel, propane, a couple groceries then a Tim's muffin and beverage for breakfast.

Sheldon really wanted to stay at Bow River campground but once we arrived, we found all the river side lots were reserved after a few loops and sketchy internet. Off we headed to Bow Valley campground where we stayed last time securing a spot online before we made our way back to it.

Finally, we arrived at our campsite at beautiful bow valley E5 along the river at 2. We are pretty good at synchronized set up and had it already in short order. Kaylin, Nathan and the pups arrived not long after. We all set out on an almost 3 mile walk that took just over an hour and half. It was a super beauty day with no wind and 23 degrees.

Back at camp we had some cold beverages, snacks and played 5 crowns. BBQ burgers complimented the salad Kaylin brought. A campfire was started and after enjoying a bit of it the Calgarians packed up and headed home after 7.

S and I relaxed around the fire before we came in around 8 and watched a couple Animal Kingdom episodes before light out.  Be darned if my headache continued all day.
