Colder yet - 30 and the furnace fails

My alarm clock Harley was up after 7, she was not to keen to go out having to be pushed. As I stood over office vent watching I felt cold air blowing. I fed her in garage and went to crawl back in bed. As I passed the thermostat I saw the house was only 16 degrees inside. OH NO!! Checking the furnace room found the pipes cold and the boiler not working due to insufficient air intake. I bundled up and crawled under the deck where Sheldon found the intake cover frosted over yesterday. Sure enough it was covered over again so I brushed it off, turned the elbow to point down and back inside. In the short time my hand was out of the glove it was like ice, poor horses!! It is -30.5!!

I started a fire to help warm the house but I have always felt the house is too air tight or the fireplace as it does not give off heat in the room. Seeing it was so cold one should feel heat radiating out but nope. I turned on the ceiling fan to help move any warm air back down and made a cappuccino. I tried working from big brown.

Before 9 I checked the heat again and it had gone down again to 16 and the boiler said air intake failure again so back out I went this time removing the elbow all together and taking pictures for Sheldon who was finally able to call after a meeting. This seemed to let everything start heating again thank goodness.

the whole top keeps covering solid, this was partially brushed off

Thinking of other ways to heat the house I made some banana bread. I even used most of my precious milk  and almost last of the eggs (I don't want to drive to town). I spied the coconut flour I bought awhile back and forgot why I bought it so mixed it in. The mix seemed very playdough like and odd. Once in the heated oven I took the time to google and found you can NOT interchange white and coconut flour. Coconut can replace some flour in recipes but only requires 1/4 the amount. So the 3 1/2 cups I put in should have made 8 loaves rather then 2!!!

I pulled them out and seeing the horses where coming in bundled up and took it out to them. They who ate the compost pile completely last week did not like this sweet banana mixture. Go figure! I kicked myself for the rest of the day at my stupidity of not checking google PRIOR to making this normally delicious recipe.

The house finally reached 19 by 1 pm, poor furnace has not stopped running. Perfect weather to get computer projects done. I wrote another Hometalk post, this one for Auntie's antique table. A bit of leftover stew and it was back to computer work this time adding the iPad with Younger. A super break of leftover salmon and rice then back at it. The vases were posted on Etsy for sale. The furnace FINALLY shut off just before 5 after heating the house all day , took a half hour break then back to work.

Britt and Cooper were out bringing a tea I ordered, thanks. The pups played outside for a short romp as so cold out then in while B ate the rest of the stew and we visited. They headed home after about an hour. I took H out to garage get water while I cleaned the kitty litter and put another clear coat on the 2 little vases. I wrote a tutorial on our work bench. After my computer work I got into bed finishing season 4 of Younger and starting the next.
