trail ride with the 'rents

I had put Lola inside about 1 am so everyone could get come rest but she was going crazy at 3:30, she never makes a peep when in the garage so knew something was up. I let her out and checked out front, sure enough the dam pesty coyote was right back at lilacs. I flashed him a few times and hollered and eventually Lola pushed him off but spent rest of the night defending the castle.

I was up at 9 making coffee and soon Mom and Dad joined me. Britt was up soon after joining the breakfast I was serving before our big outing. She started pill crushing too, today we are trying a new technique, adding corn syrup and molasses to the slurry. She actually ate it up quick after Britt hosed her up, yeah!!

Jessie and the herd raised a ruckus most of the night and when I went to catch the horses, found the hot wire snapped and ripped off, thank goodness it was smooth wire, no damages done to ponies, just job added to honey do list. Horses caught, Mom mentioned Jessie could use a trim so I quickly trimmed her fronts then Dad helped me hook the truck  and trailer. Snacks drinks loaded then horses and we were off around 11:30 leaving Lola and Diego to guard to homestead on this 22 degree day.

I chose West Bragg Creek as close but holy crap it was PACKED, mostly bikers but I made my own parking space up on some grass and we got tacked up. We only rode for just over an hour but was probably good for Dad who has NEVER rode with us out there before and for Britt who was riding the ever cautious doddler Pepper. A cold drink, load back up and get the hell out of Dodge, note to self: city dwellers love the mountains on w/e's, go to equestrian only venues ;)

 only wildlife we saw

Back at the ranch, Mom and I gathered nails from the fence disassembly before I did a full trim on Jessie. Britt showered and we loaded up to head to town. A quick stop to load a birthday present for Vance and then a well needed meal at the Roadhouse, THANKS Mom and Dad, it was yum. They brought us back home, loaded Jessie and were off. I hit a hot tub and bed with a headache that never left all day while Britt did solo Bird care.
