Calgary Stampede day

Another early morning for me, letting the dogs out and then starting the coffee. Today, the house was bustling with everyone enjoying their coffee and conversation as the four of us prepared for the Stampede. Ma and Pa left at 10:30 heading east, and shortly after, we headed west. We made a quick stop in town to pick up some allergy medication for poor Matt before heading to the rodeo.

Renn attended her first pancake breakfast with her little buddy Rory

Awe <3

Grama took this photo as they were leaving. Yes Dad's hat is too small for me but Shaina is rocking his other one for the entire day

Little miss beating the heat again.. she is just so dang cute <3

Kaylin said it was 26 in their house!! Thank goodness for the water table and a hose

These 5 are from yesterday but pretty sure she did the same today ;)

As expected, the traffic was terrible due to the Stampede. Eventually, we found a parking spot after noon, which cost $40 just to park on a patch of dirt. We took a detour through the casino to use the restrooms and then made our way to the Stampede. S and M grabbed something to eat before finding their seats, while we went straight to our fancy infield suite. It turned out to be the Stampede hospitality suite, hosting many of the winners, musical guests, and the parade marshal Owen Crow Shoe as well.

Watch this video to spot Matt and Shaina in the grandstand barrel race. I am videoing the TV right above my head and trying to follow the horse and find them so a bit shaky, sorry. Also the background chat LOL

We savored an assortment of snacks, including meatballs, lasagna, Caesar salad, grilled asparagus, and zucchini, accompanied by a plethora of desserts. The drinks were chilled and tasty, with S kicking things off with a 12.5% margarita in a can – quite the surprise! The rodeo was great, very glad not to be in full sunshine at 31 degrees. Shaina and Matt had the perfect, shade-covered spot in the center of the grandstands. Once it concluded, they queued up for Nashville North. Later, we enjoyed another round of drinks with the Strathmore rodeo crew under the sunshine before joining S & M.

there was dancing

lots of air guitar

and great singing

good times were had by all

We were even able to catch the Monster bike show on the way out

The bands were enjoyable, and more cold refreshments were savored. Shaina safely drove us home, making a couple of stops to find salsa. Once home, around 8:30, I made bean dip. Dave and Britt were here, working with Baz, and B was now riding. Be sure to go back a day and catch Shaina's video I added at the end of the post. Dave visited with S & M, while Big S and I took a soak in the hot tub. The townies headed home, and the rest of us went to bed after a long, hot day in the sun.
