Baby Roo and Switch come home

Today Britt was off at 6:30 am back to the grind but she did get to head to the track to see the Thoroughbreds now there in place of the standard breds. Mom called at 8 with a fire update from last night. Man there sure was lots of damage in a short amount of time.

Time for a coffee and more blog work before venturing out to see what chaos hit. Smoke smell hung in the air and you could see low areas of smoke still to the south east.

see trough way over to right but should be out of photo on left

The large horse trough ended up almost across the paddock and my gazing ball from the garden was near the shop but Sheldon found this.. yep the light fixture above the shop man door ripped right off including the $$ LED bulbs base.

I filled the salt/mineral tubs while S put the trough back and a rail back in. I got the chairs from around the fire pit back so S could store the plastic ones and move the deck ones back to the mez for winter. At noon we were off to pick up Roo and Switch. The sun was shining but it was only 10, brrr.

As we drove south we could see the areas ravaged by fire with many smoldering areas along the rail road track.

Switch was keen to see us making it easiest time yet to catch Roo since she was wee. Jac caught Idol to walk up with us as we loaded them, Roo went in good too and soon we were heading home.

As we got back to the tracks, firefighters and trucks were all along working on the smoldering piles, thanks to all the hard working volunteers for that. Shaina was back home from her first night sleeping in their new place. Kaylin came out to meet Roo before getting back to loading her stuff.

I stayed out with Roo a bit then went back and moved Bird in with them. It was quite the excitement for the herd with a new member. Daisy being the least pleased.

Poor Roo started to get homesick and did quite a bit of running and calling but eventually settled down to eat the hay tossed out.

Kaylin loaded Lexi and they were off to spend their first night in the new abode. The high hit 12 but was still cold.  Shaina was off to work out before her boot camp. Sheldon tossed a few more bales to the "black" girls before our new neighbors popped by to see how we anchored our horse shelters. Their new one flipped last night even though it was dug in 3 feet and solid.

I chopped us up a fresh stir fry with more carrots from my garden. Britt made it home in record time for work pulling in just after 6:30. Of course it was already getting dark but she changed quick and headed out to check on Roo before we ate. We were just finished when Shaina popped home quick at 7:30 ate and was off to train Sharon then to town to visit til later. I finished up season 4 of Grey's and on to 5.
