round pen moved

What a gorgeous day it was. The morning started sunny and no wind. Coffee with warm cinnamon buns and fresh cantelope started it off and more visiting. Grama and Papa loaded up and were headed east after 11. Sheldon and I got started on this years big ranch project.. installing a new post and rail fence on the east side of the house.

First order of business, move the round pen. I let the horses out to graze seeing we would be outside for most of the day. Our skid steer is probably the most used piece of equipment on the ranch and it did not fail yet again to be our way to move the heavy panels. We measured out our circle and marked with paint and the process was going very smoothly with 3/4 done in an hour. This is where the wheels fell off the bus. It seems the measurements were a bit skewed so for the next 2 hours were recalculated and moved each panel a couple more time each until we had a successful ROUND pen in place. Time for lunch.. at 2

Sheldon made a run to town for the posts and a few other errands. I started watering trees and flower beds and planned to start mowing but there where battery issues. While I left it charging, I scooped poop and old hay and hauled it to the pit taking dogs along for a walk then hauled out lots of garden decor. It is 21 degrees!!

Once he was back with the load of poles I jumped on the lawnmower and did the whole yard. Sheldon pulled the temporary posts so I could get the area mowed to for the new fence.

Britt was home about the usual 6:45. She changed and we had Sheldon quad us out to the horses who were at the far east side of the property. He gave us both a leg up and we barebacked them to the barn to tack up and do our conditioning and lessons. His swoop around the field in search of gophers came up zero, darn. Then he was off to pick up the post hole pounder.

After we had untacked and fed, put all horses away, I came in to start supper. B showered and S was back to help barbecue the pork. Late supper at 9 will probably become the norm for the spring/summer season. Sheldon was off to watch hockey eating his supper, I showered and kicked back with some Call the midwife and B prepped for work. Prince did run to town to grab some fuel for the post pounder needed in the am.
