809 - Canada Vs USA test match & stampede finals

Day 809 was an early start. We rousted all at 7:30 to get moving for the day. We finally had all ready and horses loaded at 8:40 only to find a trailer light was left on and drained the new truck battery!! Sheldon managed to get it jumped and we were off. Grama and Papa followed us in while Britt drove in taking Shaina who has to work today at 1. They made a quick Tims stop but pulled in close after us at the polox field.

The play was fast and furious ending just at noon in time for the girls to race home. Unfortunately Canada did not win but they played an excellent game!! Not sure what Britt did for the day but sure it involved lots of TV. Sheldon and I got the horses hosed and loaded up taking 2 of them to Zeus (the club boarding barn) leaving them there while we attend the finals for Calgary Stampede. We managed to find parking ($15 to flood relief) and walk to the park, get in and find our seats just in time for the 1:30 start.
What a hot and beauty day but there was some rain sprinkled down on us later in the showdown finals but it was all fine. Once the sun was back out it continued to shine until sundown. Sam and Adam stopped over quickly mid way (they were in VIP seats with fancy service and such so having a very good time!) but after the rodeo ended they wanted to meet for a beverage.

Rubber armed we made our way to the out door beer garden then went for "1" at Nashville North getting in the back skipping the huge line via a polox connection gal. Thanks Emma!! Doc Walker was the featured band tonight and of course one led to about 20.. or at least for all the boys.

good times under the big top
I knew we had to get to the horses yet and finally at 11, after much dancing, I managed to get Sheldon out of the action. We timed it good for seeing the last fireworks but not for getting out of the jam packed parking lot! But eventually patience paid off and I had us safely back at Zeus by midnight. I was unsure how to find the horses in the 140 acre pasture int he dark so said lets sleep a bit then tackle that issue. Our horses trailer is always loaded with pillows and blankets so it was a perfect rest spot however the bed is a bit high. This did not fair well for Sheldon who went to use the outdoor facilities in the night! He has a cut hand to prove his landing was not that accurate!
