many projects on the go - lots of pics

Awake at 8 ready to roll then realized the landscapers were done ;( Time to get to work on that table.. it is going to get the best of me yet. I was sanding then decided to use stripper to give an advantage.

sanded side from yesterday, somewhat finished leaf and the partial sanded side all ready to go
but time to call in the stripper ;)

look at the multitude of layers I had put on this table so far
here the 3 layers of clear coat and dark roast paint come off with ease but the milk paint requires another dose of stripper
which soaks it and the original stain poly & finish
this is what I scraped off so far
crazy dog cozied up in the gravel pile

Surprisingly the landscaper did pull in to add some more dust to the fire pit followed by the boss to check out all the work and snap pictures. Officially it is now up to us to finish and pay the bill ;)

I got back to sanding once the stripper did it's part and a couple hours after I started the other 2 parts were all sanded down.

While I was on a sanding roll, I hauled out the recent antique I was given and sanded the top and all drawer fronts down then gave it a thorough scrubbing. It is crazy how dirty these old pieces are and the water always runs brown to start.

The mirror also needed some extra care to remove a pile of stickers.. oh children are so funny.. the drawers had lots of crayon and pencil doodles too.

the secret is soak with wet cloth and use the straight blade, and goo gone and elbow grease!

Slug I mean Britt had another slow start but was forced to empty the dishwasher and hang out the wraps I washed up before she was off to the gym at 1. Poor Shaina messaged she had heat stroke or food poisoning which is not good as they are on their long leg home. So far they had a 6 hour ferry ride, 2 hour bus then a flight to Bangkok. It seems Kaylin booked the wrong airport so they had to transfer and wait for the next part but it had a 2.5 hr delay. I said perhaps that is a blessing as having the puking/tummy issues on a 10 hour flight will be a challenge, poor kid!

check out what Sheldon bought at Costco??

After a bite to eat I conditioned the table top and got busy staining it my favorite java gel stain. SOOOOOO much better, now leave to dry 72 hours.

On to the next staining project, the top and drawers of dresser, they too got wood conditioner and puritan pine. It seems too light but will let dry and see. (it is on right side)

Time to mix up a new color of milk paint called Eululie's sky.. love it!! The dresser base got its first coat and after I took apart the mirror, it too got a coat. Once dry, which is fast, on went another coat.

look how the stain is drying.. yuck
so out came the dark walnut stain.. so much better!!
stain on, then wiped.. much more depth

Home from the gym, Britt tried to bath the dogs. Try was the key word but at least they got wet. She then went to ride Bird. Once dry, I brushed Lola out removing even more hair. Sheldon ran thru town on the way home from work for a doctors appointment and grabbed my long awaited contest product package. Saltwash!

Britt was then off to the movies, "Finding Dory" to be exact, with Josh and another couple. After a yummy chicken melt, I headed out to get started with the Saltwash product. My two pieces needed a scrub before the process but soon I was under way.

saltwash is an additive put in paint to add texture and a beachy feel, I chose pale blue as the base color. It was a bit of a challenge coming up with right consistency but I think it will work, both pieces were poked and prodded but eventually got a good covering and left to dry overnight
then another coat on the dresser base

Sheldon removed the cracked dryer drum and installed the new one, yeah no more thunking while clothes dry. He walked Lola to the gate and grabbed the skidsteer ready for our part of the yard work this w/e.
this is the dryer sans drum

Time to soak off all the sanding dust and paint in a tub then relax with netflix while Sheldon cruised the net. Britt was home to close the gate around 11:30.. she is the closer and Sheldon is the opener ;)
