;(

Heavy hearts make for light sleep. Deb was off about 5 but back with the gate acting up. Sheldon popped down to reset and get her on her way then back to bed. The day was beautiful so to keep quiet while the girls slept, coffee was had on the deck. There was 3/10s of rain come down last night which was welcome as everything so dry.

The girls got up as Mom was loading up to head home around 10. Rounds of hugs before Mom was off and the girls not long after. They are off to spend time with friends at a lake. Luckily Britt arrived home as they were just leaving to give hugs.

She had brought surprise ice caps but the tray spilled in her car on the way so she had to clean out. Sheldon replaced the soffit and facia and put up stucco wire on edges were the birds pushed into the attic to nest. It was 24 but scorching on the roof. I was watering flower beds and the garden and picked us fresh peas from my garden.

Sheldon and Britt went out to do a varmint perimeter check after she put her boots on miss KD. She is still sore and looking like not able to play for this weekends tournament. However with the sad events in the past few days who knows what will be.

I tried to keep busy doing small chores such as watering, painting the cedar chest legs, filling the horse trough and kelp tubs, updating the blog and allot of weeding but I forgot sunscreen. ;( Sheldon kept busy watering trees, gopher patrols and equipment checks. Britt napped most of the afternoon but did soak her new white saddle pad and helped me with mattress flipping and bed making.

After 7 we needed to eat so headed to town, Paetz's invited us to join them for a burger. We also gave Archer his delayed birthday gift. Thanks for the burger and a bit of sunshine in the day.

We did not stay long as Britt wanted to ride so back at the ranch we all saddled up and went for a twilight ride. This too was good for the soul.
