992 - horses on the loose

Day 992 was a super early start to a Sunday. Dale and Vance were up at 7:30 to head off to hockey. There was quite a layer of snow so they headed out a bit earlier then planned. After getting them off I perused pinterest until a knock at the door from a lady saying the horses were out on the highway and people were trying to round them up just before 9. I had seen them running towards the pit about 1/2 hour ago so was surprised. i called the girls and they were up in no time, grabbed halters and we jumped in the Buick. Just at the gate the herd was rounding the corner into our approach followed by a big black truck. The fellow said they were down 817 a mile or so and also took a jaunt down Namaka road too before they got back on home track. Shaina stayed at the main gate as snow prevented it from closing while Britt and I went back to the house where they headed. She put a halter on Daisy then Pepper and vaulted up following the pack back into the broken gate and safety! Quite the way to start our Sunday morning!
here comes the herd led by 30 year old Ju with the help of kind strangers guiding them home
but directed back to the pen with Britt taking up the near rear, Ju pushing them back, snow marker shows edge of road and full ditch, below is our gate repair system :-)
It was very lucky as the snow started to get heavier and became a white out for a short time, not good for 3 white horses on a highway! THANKS to the good Samaritan helpers whoever you were! The girls hopped back into bed and I got down the matching coffee table from my tower of tables and started stripping and sanding it.
Lexi loves fresh snow here at camp Kuhn, just not as long as Coco
The snow stopped and the sun soon came out around 11. The couple who ordered the TV console arrived around 1:30 to pick it up. I got back to work putting 2nd coat (actually 5th) on the one end able and washing all the tables  and putting wood conditioner on all the tops and the drawer fronts.
Shaina went to town after lunch to work out and home before supper and Britt studied for her finals next week. Next it was time to stain all the wood, drawer fronts and table tops and put first coat of vintage white on the dresser. Seems the wood conditioner is the smelliest culprit but after all the stain it was time to head back inside. Shaina put supper in the oven and I added a vegetable.
After supper she was off to town, Britt back to TV room to study with one eye and I soaked in the tub after doing some long awaited clothes sorting in my room.
and never a dull moment I find 2 different woods used in this set, one seems like a true oak even retaining more of the orange hue, perhaps the other is just a different oak tree :-)
I had to send Sheldon a shot of our gourmet supper to compete.. NOT!
