662 - "in my hand"

Day 662, oh what a difference a day makes! Certainly cant say a good sleep makes as I did not fall asleep until after 4:30 but woke at 9 ready to tackle the projects again. What is life with our lessons?

My day would find lots of items in my hand, starting with a tea then tools of the refinishing trade. I sanded the big table again and wiped ready to begin.

I removed the hardware and washed the vanity with TSP and rinsed

 then wiped it down, love the grain

After both dried I applied a layer of wood conditioner. Now the moment of truth, I applied the stain to both pieces and left it one the table for 15 minutes. The vanity did not take as long as it sucked up the stain to a perfect color after about 5 minutes. I now saw a glimmer of hope and as I removed the stain from the table I was very pleased with the result. YES!!! SUCCESS... it seems the refinishing Gods were directing my lessons.

Sheldon barred the bitter wind even though it was only -1 and took the horses a bale then worked on removing the many nails from his reclaimed lumber. Britt of course slept in and began another day in the TV room :-) Good news for Shaina, she sweet talked her way into the community portion of the trip!

Yes I research things to the nenth degree but do find lots of neat ideas and information along the way. Just for fun here are a few links to other farm table make overs.. crazy colored,  reworked, stain over chalk paint, and a clutter myth buster.

I painted the vanity the first coat of chalk paint then let it dry for a few hours. I put in a roast for supper. As I went out to put on the 2nd coat Britt got the baking bug. She whipped up two pies, a flapper from scratch and a lemon meringue. And after our delicious roast supper we watched The Hobbit taking a break to try a piece of her scrumptious pie! The movie was very good, great special effects. Kaylin would have loved makeup on this one.

The computer was acting strange today when loading a photo on Facebook  it said perhaps a virus, I ran antivirus and all was good but after the movie I went on the computer to find it would not connect to internet so spent a couple hours trying to figure it out running different antivirus and malware programs. Finally I left a few deep scans running and went to bed to read till 1.
