Coffee was enjoyed on the beach once S was up, the waves indeed were allot higher then this past week so we watched them for quite awhile. I made us smoothies for breakfast while we continued to watch them.
Eventually we did load up and head out around 11 with our first stop at Kua bay. It was quite busy and the waves were very high. S did go out and bob around once he made it past the rolling swell. I was not feeling well so watched from the shaded area above the beach. This beach is in a state park so has showers and flush bathrooms and picnic tables. Spinner dolphins put on quite a show a ways out in the bay.
We enjoyed the area till around 1 and were off to another beach. The 2 neighboring ones required 4WD but after yesterday we decided to take the day off of bouncing around so we went back to Kikaua again in hopes of finding S's ring. The surf was low making it hard to snorkel but after another search he came up empty. I tried to help but bare feet and sea urchins everywhere had me only in for a bit. We visited the sea turtles before heading off.
A stop at costco to fill with fuel and restock our pineapple, shrimp and beer (yep 60 down so far), we also grabbed a new Hawaiian shirt and sarong. Outside I got us a berry sundae for the ride home, perfect treat on another hot day. Back at the condo at 3:30 we found the waves had increased ALLOT... what a show. The salt water pool had loads of folks in it and around as it was now refreshed every 5 minutes or so. S took a swim in it and caught a few of the big waves hitting the pool.
We snacked on the shrimp and waited for the amazing sunset with these huge waves.
our condo is behind us far right
this sun and surf is so amazing
A fellow condo dweller offered to snap a few photos, thanks buddy
mine above and S below doing a sunset photo challenge ;)
Laundry was in order and I did one load while cooking up some crab cakes for a late supper. Man she was a hot one today at 31 and stayed hot forever. We spent time under the big fan on the fancy big browns trying to cool off while the huge waves continued to crash right close to us. The sunset lasted so long tonight too with a bit of misty rain. As I was putting away laundry after 8 I heard real rain, I let S know who remembered the roof was off on the Jeep. Out he went to close it and said it was just like a warm shower. The rain kept up till after 11.
