830 - part Oyen part heritage days

Day 830 we had a sleep in till 10! nice Mom arranged breakfast for us as we drove in to grab it then back to the farm to load horses and back to town by noon. Britt and mom rode in the Crossroads center for an hour while Sheldon drove to the farm to check out the crops (he went for tires but forgot his shop key!) We ran to Paetz's to grab the veggies Amanda got me at farmers market Friday and found they had won A side of the ball tournament! Back to the farm to get Coco and have a cold beer and puffed wheat square for lunch then the fast drive home.

so fast, no focus ;-)

Today Shaina and Kaylin ran in the Color me Rad 5 km marathon. It went very well they said and they finished the race in 25 minutes, good job girls!! Kaylin is sending me pictures to add here

Running of the bulls set up was usually 5 and seeing we left Oyen after 2 Sheldon drove about 125 km/hr. We were in Strathmore by 4:15!! We had time to run home drop of Coco and Britt, change clothes and head back in. Part way in Kaylin text she hoped Sheldon was wearing the pink shirt she gave him for pink day. ERCH reverse back change the shirt grab a cold beverage and back to town getting there just after 5! Only to find that this year they had sky divers before the running so only a portion of the fencing was needing set up but at least he was there and on time and dressed in pink!

this jumper is an elderly man .. looks to be late 70's for sure

and below the winner.. local Eric Hansen in the giraffe costume wins the $1000
As usual there were a few injuries during this event but all brought on by stupidity :-) We moved up to the covered seats for the chucks however Britt headed home after a few heats. She missed the wreck, a driver tipped his wagon coming out of barrel 1 and drug for a bit, eventually his foot released and he was free but the wagon then got to bouncing and flopping but it eventually flipped right upside down and the outriders slowed them up, no horses hurt, driver I think ankle issues only.

After all 9 heats we headed home finally to relax for the rest of the evening! Sheldon was sleeping by 10 and me before 11! It is good to be home! Shaina got home from her shift at work at 2 am.

Big shout out to Auntie Candace who turned 50 officially today, seems she is not feeling so well after the surprise party!!
