I woke up before 9 a.m. and headed to the couch to work on blog posts. Matt had left earlier to go to the gym while S and S, slept in until after 10 a.m. As Matt returned from his workout, Sheldon made coffees for everyone. Shaina prepared a healthy breakfast-brunch of scrambled eggs, beans, bacon, and large hash browns—a great way to start the day.
We loaded up a cooler with ice and water bottles and set off at 12 noon. Our first stop was the river house, where they had recently set up a metal caged-off area for swimming right in the river. Many old sailboats and boats were out as a blustery 28-degree day continued to heat up. We then took a tour past the prime minister’s residence and crossed the river to Gatineau again to look for some cheaper beer. It seems Quebec has less tax on beer. Getting beer in the grocery store was a bit of a challenge. The line to pay was about 10 people deep, and once we got to the self-checkout, it was in French, which caused a bit of a problem. But we managed to get it.
Our last stop was to meet Matt’s dad, Barry, and his wife, Parisa, in their quaint backyard for some snacks and a cold drink.
Back at Matt’s house, I cooked up a spaghetti supper while the others went to the neighbours’ pool to cool off. After supper, Shaina and I cleaned up, and we all settled on the couch. Shaina and I worked on our tablets, Matt watched his phone, and Sheldon serenaded us with his deep sleep snoring. We wrapped up our day watching Final Destination - Bloodlines, which was quite the show! It was to be a horror thriller but S laughed thru lots of it. Then, we headed to bed, where I read earlier tonight.
