We woke up early at 8 a.m. to enjoy a bowl of yogurt with fixings created by Shaina and lattes by Matt before hitting the highway northeast to Montreal at 9 a.m. We made a quick bathroom break along the way, but arrived before 11 a.m. Parking was interesting in a small area where you leave your keys, and they pull them out three deep side by side.
Off we went for a day of sightseeing on foot. First we had a brunch at Wolf and Workman which was a quaint little place. We started our day with a walk around Old Montreal, catching a native show in the park. We then took a break at Governors Garden and stopped at a quirky thrift store up past Chinatown. To cool off, we grabbed an iced cap through the St. Catherine’s district.
Next, we checked out the Allouettes football field at McGill and then took a challenging half-hour hike up the stairs to the Chateau Mont-Royal lookout at the top. Whew! We were all or some of us were so tired that we needed rest after putting on 6+ kilometres.
At the top, we looked over the edge and saw our spirit animal—a raccoon!
Shaina called an Uber to drop us back at the old part of town where we had enjoyed our OG poutine at Montreal Poutine with a refreshing lemonade (S a beer). This wrapped up our Montreal tour, and we headed back to the car to make our way back to Carlsbad Springs. The trip home took about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Shaina was able to work both ways, helping her keep up with her tasks.
Just as the drive was ending, rain started and lasted for the rest of the evening and through the night. The best news was that it had rained heavily back home today. Varying amounts were posted, but Matt G said we had well over 2 inches!
After putting on over 15,000 steps and nearly 11 km, we soaked in the hot tub. We then had a cold refreshing drink, a rousting game of Smear, and some tasty shrimp kabobs off the BBQ. We followed up with another Smear game before heading to bed at 12:30 a.m. I read for a while, but most of the family went to sleep. In the middle of the night, there was a bright blast of light from a power outage that briefly woke me, but not the prince.

When Dad and I were in Montreal we didn't see any of those exciting places. Great photos. Looked like a great day.
