The rain poured and the wind absolutely howled all night long and continued through the day. By the time I let a very vocal Jenkins out of the garage around 6:30, we'd picked up another 3/4 of an inch of rain.
I spent some time surfing online until S woke up, then we enjoyed coffee in bed while discussing the car buyer who wanted to meet that morning. Suddenly our leisurely start disappeared. We needed to get ourselves ready, prepare a bill of sale, and do one final sweep of the car. Good thing I remembered to remove my driving angel, cargo liner and grab the gate and garage fobs.
We headed into town for our 11 a.m. meeting at Starbucks as per our apparently high roller buyers having declined Tim Hortons!
Since we arrived early, we grabbed a macchiato and waited. The paperwork itself was quick and easy, and the buyers were lovely people. As it turns out, they're from Strathmore and are actually neighbours of the Paetz family.
The sale wasn't quite done yet, though. They wanted us to meet at the registry office while they arranged insurance. We dropped off the vehicle, deposited the cheque, and then waited for them to arrive. By the time everything was officially completed, it was nearly noon.
With one vehicle sold, it was time to start shopping.
Our first stop was Mercedes to look at a hybrid S was interested in learning more about. We quickly discovered that plug-in hybrid technology comes with a hefty price tag. The salesman was refreshingly honest and even suggested we wait until Thursday when new promotions would be released.
From there we headed to Volkswagen, where we spent the next three hours.
Britt's salesman was busy initially, but eventually we got behind the wheel for a test drive. After taking it for a spin and discussing numbers, we made a deal. We have never owned a white vehicle before. OK, not true, the boat AKA Mercury Marquis was white :)
On an Atlas Cross Sport. Our new vehicle will be picked up Wednesday.
Which feels like excellent timing considering it's also the birthday of three of our favourite girls. <3
Meanwhile, the rain never let up.
We grabbed a quick bite to eat before heading to Costco where we managed to do our usual amount of damage. Along with restocking household essentials, we picked up some meal prep gift cards that two of the girls had requested. Loading everything into the truck in the pouring rain wasn't exactly enjoyable, but we got it done and headed home.
Not bad for someone who declared first thing in the morning that she wasn't leaving the house in this weather.
Back at the ranch, it was unload groceries, feed Harley, and finally sit down with a celebratory beverage. Thanks to B, Harley had already received a late breakfast when she was out earlier, which saved us one job.
As if the day hadn't already been busy enough, we learned some exciting family news over supper.
Riley is getting married.
This Saturday. In his living room.
The very same day as Miss Renn's third birthday party!
Congratulations to Riley and Mai. What an exciting week ahead.
The evening was much quieter. We finished the current season of Running Point and then started watching The Wrecking Crew. Unfortunately, after the whirlwind of a day we'd had, we only made it halfway thru before calling it a night. As the rain and wind continued.
A stormy day, a sold car, a new car on the way, and surprise wedding news — definitely not the kind of Tuesday we expected when we woke up to rain pounding on the roof.
