Smoke Can't Stop The Fun

Another nice sleep-in for Renn this morning. She was awake at 8 but stayed snuggled up chatting with her Mom until 8:30 before getting up. It’s hard to rush those sweet mornings when there is a little one around who loves the spotlight.

Look at how much concentration and attention to staying in the lines renn has while colouring!

Jim and Nicki arrived, and before long Nathan, Matt and Jim headed off for another round of golf. Sheldon opted out of golfing today because of the smoke concerns, which turned out to be a pretty wise decision as the day went on.

That left a pool day for the ladies and S. There was plenty of relaxing, visiting and, of course, some Jenga. And did you notice the matching mom-and-daughter swimsuits? How cute are they! Those are the little vacation details that make the photos so much fun to look back on.

The girls like to lock toes, Renn wanted to get in on this trick

success!

Yet more Jenga

JENGA Shaina!

We had our homemade sausage for supper before Jim and Nicki packed up and headed for home. With the fires getting closer to them, they didn’t want to be too far away, and the smoke was becoming increasingly concerning.

We stayed inside tonight, playing cards while the smoke rolled in from every direction. It was easily the worst yet, hanging thick around us and making the whole evening feel a little unsettling.

Smokiest day yet!

I also finished my book tonight. It was an okay read, but nothing that wowed me—3 out of 5.

Not exactly the summer vacation atmosphere we had hoped for with all that smoke, but we still managed to fill the day with swimming, laughter, family, homemade sausage and games. Sometimes you just have to make the best of what the weather—and the wildfires—hand you.
