Hikes, Jenga & Another Summer Day Together

I heard Renny awake just after 7, so I got up, while Shaina—who had set an alarm to watch her— headed back to bed. Renny and I went upstairs and settled into the swinging deck egg chair with our morning coffee. Grandpa joined us a little later, entertained by busy bee Renn.

Good morning! Espresso cups were just the right size for Renny's coffee - AKA warm frothed milk

deck tour, the BBQ had all the fellows admiring it.

Just 3 girls having coffee in a swing :)

Once everyone else was up and moving, we headed out for a good hike down to the marina and back, although Nathan stayed behind today as he wasn’t feeling well. By the time we returned, everyone was ready for brunch.

off we go, a view from the winding road looking up at the house

Going down was easy, coming up was a bit of a challenge, Renn was not a fan of hiking :)

It was another hot and smoky day, so the pool was the obvious place to spend the afternoon. We cooled off, relaxed and worked our way into some Jenga time—always good for a little laughter and friendly competition.

There was a duck sighting at the pool

S and I teamed up for supper tonight, putting BBQ chicken thighs on the fancy grill along with garden potatoes and a couple of salads. There’s something especially satisfying about sitting down to a meal that includes potatoes grown at home.

Renn just reading the Gucci children's collection 2020 book

Cards rounded out the evening. Nothing too complicated, just good food, family, plenty of time together and a warm summer day spent enjoying all the little things. Those are the days that seem to slip by quickly but end up being some of the best memories.

Shaina captured and created our view of the lake for the last 3 nights, cool!

  2. It was lovely and yes varying amounts of smoke. The poor people that live there have it way worse than our short visit. Sorry about the video, sometimes they are more of just the video than words ;)
