I heard little miss calling at 6:15, so I went and carried her up to our bed. We were mid-snuggle when Harley barked—didn’t think much of it until Cooper barked outside. A quick look out the window and there was Auntie B tossing hay to the horses. She popped in for a quick hug before heading off to work by 6:45—she’s got a supper with a coworker tonight so Cooper will spend the day at the ranch.
Morning playtime kicked off, with coffee for Nana and a fruit platter (plus pizzelles, of course) for Renn. I’d delivered a coffee to Grandpa earlier—miraculously, it was still warm when he finally surfaced around 8:30. After some phone time and breakfast, he headed out to top up the hot tub and attempt to clear the snow off the solar panels. It’s a gorgeous sunny day, warming as it goes—but he quickly decided risking life and limb for a few extra solar hours wasn’t worth it. Fair call.
I got a pot of cream of mushroom soup going for lunch. Renn? Sausage and four pizzelles—living her best life. Pizzelles were my favourite cookie as a child at Grandma Walker's too! By afternoon it had warmed to +3, so we bundled up and headed out. Our “walk” was more of an inchworm pace for Renn, followed by demanding to being carried like royalty. 😄
Back inside—snacks and playtime. Grandpa dozed off in Big Brown after some internet surfing. The Vancouver crew’s flight was delayed from 11:30 to 1 PST, so they’d be rolling in later than planned.
She was determined to wake up Grandpa with her super popper but he was not even fazed
At 4, B reminded me I was on horse duty, so Grandpa took Renn down to the castle while I headed out. The snow is melting fast with this sunshine—even at +4, patches of ground are already showing through after that big spring snow dump.
Back in, more playtime—Renn directing as usual. I was “Dada,” S was “Mama,” and she was clearly running the show.
The BC crew pulled in just after 5 to a very excited Renn. I had pizzas ready for an easy supper, and after everyone ate, the Calgary crew packed up and headed home before 6 to get Renn settled for the night.
Shaina and Matt went downstairs to catch up on work. I got chairs up and set the robot vacuum/mop loose on the main floor. S parked himself on the couch with his knee iced (switching it up from heat earlier).
I made us a yogurt and fruit bowl, and we relocated to the sunny bedroom to finish a Minimalist show I’d started the night before. Good reminders about STUFF and the increasing marketing algorithm convincing us to buy more!!
Shaina popped up later to cook smokies for her and Matt, tried some of the homemade mushroom soup, grabbed fruit, then headed back down. We started a new series—Margot’s Got Money Troubles—while the house quieted down.
B came by around 11 to pick up Cooper, and not long after, lights were out for all of us. Well not Shaina who stayed up till 1 am.

Looks like J is in his glory with a shorter person who pays him lots of attention. Looks like cooper is quit at ease around her too.
ReplyDeleteYes she is good with the cats and dogs, J loves the attention!
