Ghost Town Stops & Vegas Curveballs

The Schmitts were up very early—3 a.m. airport run to drop off Steph and Brady, back home for a quick crossword session, then out again at 4:30 to take their nephew to the airport. Back for a nap, and then once everyone regrouped—with coffee in hand—we got the day rolling.

Morning was easy and fun—games with Sheldon and Chuck learning a new board game, then some cards for us all. Once the Jim Schmitts arrived they kicked up the  Crokinole, and before long the Robby Schmitt crew joined in too. A full house, lots of laughs.

This silly nut sent me a video

cutest part

By 2, we were on the move—caravan style—heading out to Pioneer Saloon. This little ghost town bar was exactly the vibe—live band, blazing desert sun, and that quirky, off-the-beaten-path charm. Definitely a unique stop.

From there, we made our way back toward Las Vegas. After a bit of navigating chaos, we parked at Horseshoe Las Vegas and hustled to find The Cabinet of Curiosities. Mission accomplished… until we discovered the speakeasy inside came with a $300 cover charge and a two-drink minimum per person. Hard pass.

Plan B: we wandered over to Guy Fieri's Vegas Kitchen & Bar—but between the price point and a strong seafood scent, that was also a no-go.

A few of the guys (including S) found a blackjack table, with Sam jumping in for a bit too, while the rest of us regrouped. We circled back to the Cabinet for drinks and a few rounds of Heads Up, then shifted gears again with a booking at Atomic Golf.

The reservation was for 11… but only 8 could actually play. Darn the luck—the rest of us became the cheering squad but did get a chance to hit the ball a couple times. Lots of laughs, a bit of chaos, and a solid way to end the night.

Debby's camera gave us all a pink haze, thanks for the captures

My apple phone was much more serious

Mom give it a go too

Seems I forgot a few videos from yesterday so pop back and check them out at the bottom of the post.

Goodbyes to the other families wrapped up the evening, and Chuck got us home safe and sound. And as usual—I squeezed in some reading before finally calling it a night.
