Rehearsal Day, So Much Food & An Act of Kindness

Wednesday was all about the rehearsal dinner—which meant a full day of prepping.

I snuck out early for a coffee with Chuck, Deb and Mom, leaving S to enjoy a usual sleep-in until after 9.

Coleslaw and potato salads were made, trays of squares (made ahead of time by Deb) were arranged—every surface seemed to have something on it. And loads of dishes were done over these last few busy days. Many hands made for light work.

Outside, it was another absolute stunner—full sun, no wind, one of those perfect days that just makes everything easier. The house was buzzing with visiting, snacks, and refreshments flowing all day.

Later in the afternoon, wedding décor got loaded into a U-Haul, and once the family headed off for the rehearsal, the rest of us stayed back to set up—tables arranged and decorated in the wedding colours, food laid out, crock pots filled with sauces, beans, pulled pork, and chicken - everything ready for the evening celebration.

I sent the mother of the groom off to rehearsal with a go mug

Then we got busy with our task list

Debby was inspired by Kaylin's flower vases so got some in lavender paired with mason jars with twinkle lights

She and Chuck created this welcome board too

See Sheldon in the background?

he played a lot of Jenga

There were photo props for the willing

It turned into such a lovely night—celebrating what was just around the corner, surrounded by good people and great energy.

The cleanup was swift thanks to everyone’s help.  However, there was still a lot of food left, especially  food Ashley’s mom and stepdad had brought later missing the main crowd - boxes of Olive Garden garlic breadsticks and a large salad and a lot of pretty individual desserts in cups, topped with flowers.

Rather than let any of it go to waste, I suggested we pass it along, and Steph organized it right away. We loaded up a minivan and delivered everything to some very appreciative folks—it felt good knowing those fancy little desserts and Olive Garden goodies were enjoyed just as much, if not more, in that moment

Back at the house, things wound down quickly—a short visit, then everyone off to bed to rest up for the big day ahead.

I ended mine with a bit of Netflix, while S didn’t even make it that far—out as soon as his head hit the pillow.
