Chilly Start, Sunny Finish

Last Monday of April rolled in at 7:07 with -7 and Harley asking out. Classic. We kept to morning routine—adding a soak in the hot tub. That southeast wind was not exactly inviting, but we toughed it out anyway.

Quick shower for me after, while S got dressed and headed out with Harley to chop a hole in the frozen water trough.

I put together a pot of mushroom soup for lunch, and somewhere in there Craig called—him and S were on the phone for well over an hour. Those two can talk. 😄

Once they wrapped up, we headed to town—errands all around: gifts, groceries, returning battery cores… and an iced coffee stop to make it worthwhile. Picked up Cooper and zipped back home.

We took the dogs for a walk right away, then I did a quick poop scoop and hauled my plants out onto the back deck now that it had warmed up to +7. Of course, in the process of stepping over the door tread, I managed to dump one of the pots. 🙄 S came out to help move things around while he filled the horse buckets, and I fed the dogs.

Back inside, I got my payroll sheets submitted while S handled some online banking. Then I headed back out to plant the sweet peas I’d been soaking—along the wire arch and ready to go.

Supper was simple and perfect—salad and BST sandwiches. S disappeared for hockey (shocking), B came out to feed and grab Cooper, and I fit in a Pilates workout.

Then—my favourite part—golden hour. I stretched out in the sun with my book, The Great Alone, and soaked it in almost finishing it.

S actually called it on hockey early (rare!) and came up so we could finish Million Dollar Secret—just the finale left now. Yogurt bowls in hand, we followed it up with a couple episodes of At Home With the Fury’s before calling it a night.

A little bit of everything kind of day—cold to start, but ended just right.
