Easter in the Desert

Happy Easter 🌸

It was an early start for me—being an hour behind always throws things off when I’m used to waking around 7 MST. And when I went for a shower… turns out all that “careful packing” still missed a couple things—no comb and no wedding eyelashes. But I have lots of unneeded jackets and sweat shirt 😄

Back in Calgary, Renn was having her own kind of perfect Easter—hunting for mini eggs, colouring hard boiled later in the day, and soaking up all the fun of the day.

Looks like she loves her new Easter bunny

I headed downstairs and joined Debby and Chuck for coffee, easing into the day. Soon after, S wandered in, and then Sam and Jim arrived. Chuck was already busy in the kitchen, peeling and grating carrots and preparing a fresh fruit salad.

They used dyed cool whip this year which Renn enjoyed tasting as she worked

Steph was starting to feel a bit better and managed a shower, which seemed to help. We all sat down to a tasty breakfast including this delicious breakfast casserole. Stephanie kept to herself, eating inside before heading back to bed for another rest.

The rest of us pitched in—the girls tackled dishes and got a couple of carrot cakes made using Chuck’s prepped carrots. It turned into a bit of a team effort kind of morning.

Chuck’s sister and her husband arrived, had some breakfast, and joined us out on the lanai. They made a quick run to the airport to pick up their son, while the rest of us settled into visiting mode.

After her nap, Steph was feeling much better and decided she was up for joining the bachelorette party. Debby and Sam drove her across town to meet up with the group.

The guys stayed out on the lanai chatting, and I took a bit of quiet time to work on the blog and do some reading. Not long after, the girls were back, and Robby and Hippo stopped in for a visit too. Brady and Steph were dropped off with Brady heading straight to bed having spent the weekend at the bachelorette party.

Easter supper came together beautifully—cheesy potatoes, ham, buns, carrots, and salad. A proper spread.

The evening carried on out on the deck—good food, lots of visiting, and plenty of laughs once the party crew made their return. Eventually, everyone started heading out, and things quieted down.

Debby, Chuck, S, and I stayed up for a bit longer, chatting before finally calling it a night.

A full Easter day—simple, warm, and all about time together.
