Heat, Hosting, and a Big Celebration

Monday kicked off early with a full-on family breakfast. Chuck was up at 5 getting the pork going on the Traeger pellet grill, and from there it turned into a full day of prep mode—food, game setup, and figuring out outdoor lighting. That part took way longer than expected thanks to GFI issues (like all day), but between the electrical know-how on hand, helpful family members and even a helpful neighbour, it all came together.

Big thank to Debby for many of the photos!!

The lights were wrapped, measured, unwrapped, rewrapped and repeat

Chuck rewired an outlet while the lights were going up

Robby and Hippo joined in again, and we made the most of a beautiful 29-degree day. The pork was eventually pulled and packaged up, ready to go for rehearsal dinner Wednesday.

Yet this is S face for my camera :)

Supper was lasagna for a family crowd, followed by plenty of visiting, laughter, games and that easy kind of entertaining that just flows when everyone’s together.

Tuesday was taco night for all family and friends, so the day naturally revolved around prep. It started early with another big family breakfast—bacon and pancakes this time—fuel for the day ahead. Chuck's other brother David and his kids Jason, Mary along with husband Joe joined in the fun having arrived last night as well. Today, Jim's kids Jordyn and Brian along with his girlfriend Morgan arrived. All of Chuck's family is now here making for a very busy house. I think his sister Cathy wins longest drive as a couple hours longer than ours. And his niece and her husband drove from Texas, straight thru on way home!

Interesting the bag says made in New York

Deb and I ran out for groceries after her dress fitting, then it was back to the house to get everything ready for a 5 p.m. spread. So much food was prepped. Their Mexican neighbour made shrimp ceviche and salsa verde on request too that was so tasty. (OK the salsa was smoking LOL)

guacamole queen, think she made enough?

Robby and his groom's people (including Brady) were off for the bachelor party today which started at Atomic golf then had a sleepover under the stars fishing trip at Lake Mead.

the games were well used thru the day

Fiesta ready

Another scorcher of a day at 31 degrees, with guests rolling in steadily. Deb and Mary made a run after 5 to the airport to pick up Mom, and by evening, the place was full and buzzing.

The highlight? A surprise cake celebrating Stephanie’s doctorate—soon to be officially Dr. Stephanie Schmitt! 🎉

surprise!

Such a great night—good food, warm weather, and even better company.
