The night brought rain—or so it sounded at 1 and again at 4—but by morning the rain gauge told a different story: barely a tenth. Coffee was delivered to bed (thanks, S!) while we chatted over the day's plans. Then he was off to yet another rodeo work bee by 10 a.m.
I tackled a bit of marketing and reposted the bar cart on a few more sale sites—still no bites, so I dropped the price and crossed my fingers. After that, it was back to sanding the nightstand in the garage.
By noon I ran into town to pick up food for Renn, a few groceries, some refreshments, and a wrap from Opa for lunch. Once home and refueled on my wrap, I returned to the nightstand. I decided on a light oak stain, hoping to avoid those dreaded hardware halos… but alas, they’re still showing. Fingers crossed they fade as it dries.
The rest of the afternoon was a mix of plant care, laundry, and general tidying. I dug up some new potatoes for supper and took Harley for a walk—who, naturally, found an ancient gross bone. I traded her for a frozen bison bone, which seemed a worthy deal. While outside, I pulled weeds and fed the dandelions to Roo.
B came out before 4 to change Roo’s bandage and feed horses. She is not feeling well today so skipped any visiting or family supper. Meanwhile, I caught up on blog writing and more tutorial prep for the nightstand project.
S came back after 5 with a rotisserie chicken to go with our garden-fresh potatoes, carrots, and salad. Not long after, the Boysis family arrived—and just like that, our evening with sweet little Renn began. Supper was delicious, and the post-dinner visiting and playtime were even better.
Kaylin and Nathan headed off around 7—she’s off to Toronto early in the morning and still had packing to do before her 5 a.m. airport drop-off. Nathan, meanwhile, is staying back to enjoy some solo reflection time before his parents arrive Monday night.
After that, we all changed into swimsuits and took Renn for her first little “swim” in the hot tub—pure joy! Just as we got inside, the rain began to fall, and soon it was coming down in sheets. We squeezed in one last bit of playtime—complete with some “No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed”—before she was tucked in by 9 and drifted off to dreamland.
S and I ended the day with a goofy classic: Happy Gilmore 2 and a drumstick each. By bedtime, the day’s total rainfall reached just over 3 tenths—and everything, from the garden to our spirits, felt a little more refreshed.

Great fun with Renn in the 'pool'. Thanks for sharing all the videos! Glad Kaylin got away for a visit, Nathan some quiet time and Grandma and Grandpa will have lots of fun with Renn
