I woke up with a nagging headache—turns out I hadn’t had enough water yesterday, as Shaina kindly reminded me later. It was after 9 when I finally got up, and Matt followed not long after while I was already into my morning marketing tasks. S then was up too.
On a brighter note, the magnolia riser tray turned out to be a bit of a star this week—it was featured on four different parties! Definitely a big hit, and a fun little win to kick off the day. And the MCM dresser had features too.
I made coffees for everyone while S whipped up a hearty breakfast—bacon, eggs, and his hand-picked mushrooms. Shaina joined us too, and once we were all fueled up, it was time to head out for a trail ride. We followed that up with a bit of polocrosse practice—it’s been a while, but it was fun to get back at it, even if the ball was mostly dead!
B arrived around 1:30, just as we were wrapping up. After untacking the horses, we gave them a good hose-down and let them roll before heading inside. B said her goodbyes to Shaina and Matt since she won’t see them again before they leave next week, then headed to town to start packing for the wedding weekend.
Back at the ranch, we had hot dogs and veggies, then spent an hour watching old home movies. We stumbled across Shaina’s acting debut in Guys and Dolls from Grade 6—lots of laughs and a flood of great memories.
The boys headed out for a quick gopher hunt while Shaina tidied up her room in preparation for leaving. S gave the Jeep a much-needed pressure wash—it had acquired a lovely set of cat mud prints—then tackled the Fireball, Ranger, and swather next.
While S ran over to Matt’s for a project (that turned out not quite ready), I got back to work on the blogs. Our Nespresso order arrived—perfect timing! B swung by just after 5 to feed quickly before heading off again for bridesmaid duties.
Later, we took a relaxing soak in the hot tub, soaking up the lovely sunshine, then I painted my nails while S settled into the TV room. We had a quiet supper of leftovers while watching the Calgary Stampede. I did watch some Netflix before lights out. A peaceful Friday evening at the ranch—just how we like it.

Great to see you guys dust off the polocross balls and rackets. Looked like so much fun. Hope Shaina has good luck in selling her jeep
