The sun was shining when we woke up around 8, so I got us started with morning coffees and a quick check-in with Debby and Chuck, who were still stuck at the border waiting for their passports to arrive. FedEx had sent them out Saturday, but with the long holiday weekend in the U.S., they’re still sitting in Memphis. Not ideal.
After my usual round of pet care and a shower, I got to work on the wedding day blog. Once the videos finished uploading, I published the post—always a good feeling to hit “live.” With another day laying at home, we took Harley for a walk out to the gate and back, enjoying the warm morning sun.
S dove into his laptop and phone to continue organizing the volunteer list for Running with the Bulls, while I kept plugging away on blog work.
By noon, we loaded into the car and headed out, first stopping to pick up swather knives, then treating ourselves to Opa for lunch—which turned out to be free, thanks to my collected points. (Loyalty programs do work—if you actually use them!)
On our way to S’s diagnostic appointment, we hit a big traffic stall at the 16th Ave and #2 intersection due to an accident. What should’ve taken a few minutes dragged into a turtle-paced crawl for half an hour. Thankfully, we’d left early enough that he still walked into his appointment at 1:58—right on time.
As luck would have it, one of my favourite stores—HomeSense—was right next door, so I browsed for a good 30 minutes. Lots of treasures, but I reminded myself I don’t need anything. Timing was perfect, as S walked out just as I pulled up, and we headed off to Market Mall for a little more city time.
I tried on three sparkly dresses today—all very Vegas-worthy. Dress shopping just isn't my thing. Honestly, I think I need Shaina K Fit to set me up with a program but the wedding is only 2 months away!
Afterward, we zipped over to Kaylin's place just as she was pulling in with Renn—perfect timing. Nathan was out back doing yard clean-up and watering the planters, while Shaina and Matt arrived shortly after us, beverages in hand. We had a great visit and a fun little sandbox play with Renn before Matt had to dash off to another golf game at 5.
We made the mistake of grabbing a DQ burger in Langdon on our way home. As usual, it looked better in the photo than it tasted. Lesson (re)learned.
Back at the ranch just after 6:30, I fed Harley and washed all her dishes—everything was dirty. S settled in to watch the rodeo and do some evening snacking since the burger and fries didn’t quite cut it.
B and Cooper rolled in at 7:30, and she and I headed out for a fast-paced evening ride in the freshly swathed field—absolutely perfect conditions. Afterward, B fed the horses and then she and Coop headed for home just before 9:30. I shut the lights off early and S after the rodeo and chucks ended.
