We were up early today, with S checking the magpie trap just after 6 a.m. We could hear them, but none had been caught. He puttered around outside for a bit before getting ready for the boys’ big Christmas gift golf game. He headed out in the Fireball just after 8, while I was on my way to feed Roo and Harley and sip my way through my first and second coffees while tackling some marketing work.
Matt and one of his workers popped over before 9 to pick up the John Deere, and after that, I shifted gears into cleaning mode. Nothing like having overnight company to get the house in shape—which honestly, is a good thing. I even baked another chocolate cake.
B came out before 12:30 and spent some time reading while I prepped a salad and she took care of feeding the horses. Midday, I got a message from a gal inquiring about the headboard and the MCM dresser. After a few texts and a call, she sent a couple of guys over to pick them up—no dickering at all. Turns out they’ll be used in a wedding venue in Strathmore, set up in the bridal suite. Love when pieces go to a special new home!
Three of the guys rolled back from their golf game around 2, with Nathan heading straight back to the city to pick up Renn from school. Just as they were arriving, the fellows came to pick up the furniture, so S and Matt jumped in to help load—especially since one of the guys was 77 and couldn’t lift much.
The BBQ was fired up with sausages going on the grill and tater tots crisping in the air fryer. Beers were popped while everyone waited for “lupper,” which was ready just as Shaina rolled in.
We had a great visit before B headed out for her spray tan appointment around 4, and Dave took off for the racetrack not long after. Then it was time to get started on repairs for Shaina’s Jeep, which she’s planning to list for sale.
Despite the dark skies gathering to the west, I went ahead and watered all my pots—just in case the storm passed us by. But it didn’t. High winds rolled in along with hail, and S rushed out to tuck the Fireball safely away. It rained steadily for quite a while, dropping nearly 3/10 of an inch before the skies cleared and the sun made a return.
S and Matt took advantage of the calm after the storm and headed out for a hot tub, while I marked my sold items on the marketplace sites. B was back home after 8, just as Shaina was finishing up vacuuming out the Jeep. B grabbed a quick bite and waited for everyone to gather for game night.
We dove into lively rounds of call-partner Smear, full of laughs and competitive energy. B and Cooper headed home after 10, and we switched up partners to keep the fun going until well after 11. Afterward, Shaina and I both wound down the night with a little Netflix in bed—classic.

An all around fun and productive day with added bonus of rain!
