last landscaping day success

After putting the coffee on, Sheldon went out to check the rain gauge, 3/10ths came down in the evening storm, we will take it! This gives us a bit of relax time to get the last day of landscaping on the go.

More supplies were in order so a trip to town it was with truck and dump trailer. We checked all the main stores; Canadian Tire, Home hardware, Rona, Walmart and Peavy Mart in search of cool first chairs, a neat water feature or garden piece, new tools, garden fencing and a few more plants but only came out with two shovels. Next stop as it was now noon was a booster juice lunch on the run grabbing a load of mulch, more rebar, grass seed and weed spray.

The weather which was fairly sunny but breezy now looked threatening around us as we headed home after 1. Britt was up watching Netflix, pretty hard day but she did go organize her horse tack in the barn as I scrubbed my last 20 bottles and Sheldon started planting grass seed. He had quite a process of spreading, raking, harrowing, then packing with a barrel.

Britt jumped on the mower to do the east side of the yard. While I emptied the wheelbarrow of the last of the huge top soil bag we bought years ago for the flower beds. Shaina arrived just after 3 as we were all finishing up for a ride. Before we headed out, I trimmed KD's chipping front feet. Shaina took along baby and I started out with Pepper but trying to keep. Switch on track dragging an anchor was hard so Britt took him for a couple rounds then Sheldon put him back. We ended the ride with a little practice in the paddock before Shaina had to head to her 5 pm work shift. My latest blogger ambassador package arrived via courier while we were heading out, Old Fashioned Milk Paint.

In the barn, I trimmed Switch and Britt tried to learn a bit more on Bird helping me get her all trimmed up too. Sheldon hung out and swapped out a broken broom handle for a spare as well as another that needed tightening. A bit of rain blew thru but not much, tin sounds like more. He cut the last rebar pieces as we let the horses go and headed to the house for a well needed refreshment.

so close to done, just mulch at base

Once the last 20 pieces were pounded in I assembled the bottles, walaaa it is almost complete, just needs one last bottle and the mulch put under it! Supper at 7 was to be steak but dark clouds rolled in again so lasagna and corn on the cob were an easier choice. For the rest of the night rain came and went and the thunder continued to cause poor Coco angst. Time for a good soak for me, shower for other 2 and relaxing night after 4 very productive days in the ranch's landscaping progress. The evening was topped off with a hot chai tea compliments of Shaina home from her shift around 9:30, THANKS Dude!
