Sunshine, Shutouts, and Subtitles

A 10 p.m. lights out had us both awake before 7. S popped on the TV to catch the Canadian women’s hockey team already in full swing after making us coffee. Another beauty of a day was waiting once the sun came up — though it’s apparently the last double-digit day before winter barrels back in by Tuesday.

After the women’s win, it was time for the Canadian men’s first game. I had 2 1/2 hours of routine diagnostic appointments booked later today but chose to reschedule till later in the month so as not to make 4 days in a row driving to the city.

I placed a coffee order (priorities) and headed out to toss my hay piles, do a poop loop, refill the chlorine dispenser in the hot tub, scrub dog dishes, and sweep the garage stairs. My back was feeling a bit better after last night’s Dr. Ho treatment — though I may have pushed it a touch too far this am. The Ho went back on while I finished and published Monday’s blog post.

I could tell exactly when the men scored thanks to Sheldon’s hoots and hollers. I joined him on the bed in the sunshine to start today’s blog. Final score? 5–0. Same as the women’s. What are the odds?

After that, I started Sharon’s other puzzle — this one a 500-piece. S went down for a nap that turned into a full two-hour stretch.

Just after noon, I ran to town to grab Cooper while this +10, no-wind magic lasts. Next week, if winter truly returns, those mid-day dog pickups may be on pause. I grabbed a rotisserie chicken on the way home and made a salad to go with it. Once S surfaced around 1:30, he joined me for lunch while I continued puzzling.

More Olympic viewing followed for S, then he decided fresh air was in order. We walked the dogs to the gate and back. Harley attempted to carry her treat along but lost it somewhere en route. Back inside, both S and H hit their beds and were fast asleep.

I finished the 500-piece puzzle — Dr. Ho in place, of course. This one was satisfying to complete in a short stretch.

Then came vacuum round… what is this, three? Between last night’s Dyson session and today’s built-in, Cooper is still somehow shedding more fur as he paces. I fed the dogs and sent them back out for a bit more sunshine.

S was awake again and onto the news, so I joined him with my iPad, catching up after publishing Tuesday’s post.

Supper was brown rice California rolls I picked up earlier too and the last of the mushroom soup. Then Peaky Blinders episode two — yogurt bowls in hand. B popped out as usual, fed quickly, had a short visit, then she and Coop headed home.

We managed two episodes tonight before S was ready to nap again. I turned on the light and finished Britt’s 751-page book — the fifth in the series. Only to discover there’s a sixth in the works.

Lights out.
