Happy heavenly birthday, Dad 🤍 You are missed every single day. XOXO.
We woke to a biting -26, with a wind chill of -37 — the kind of cold that makes your eyelashes question their life choices. But once the sun pushed its way up, it almost felt cheerful out there. Even the horses were moving about with a bit of pep — likely less “joyful frolic” and more “must not freeze.”
Coffees were made and delivered to the sleeping prince while I settled in with Spanish. Naturally, the TV flicked on the moment his mug hit the bedside table.
I slipped out a post for Tuesday’s blog and then dove back into The Puzzle. By noon — victory! This one was no small feat. Muted colours, random cuts, and a minuscule reference photo with zero fine detail. So many pieces almost fit in places they didn’t belong. But persistence won. Now… perhaps some housework?
S emerged for lunch, turning on the kitchen TV for the women’s gold medal game. I folded laundry while watching what looked like a strong Canadian win — until the final two minutes when the USA tied it up. Oof. The bed was stripped and sheets tossed in as S showered. Sudden death did not swing our way. A tough finish.Afternoon turned productive. Accounting and blogs for me, sports and laptop time for S — which gently morphed into a sunshine nap. Plant care (so many plants), vacuuming, more laundry. I made iced coffees to fuel the cleaning marathon and keep the Olympic spectator energized. Once the sheets were dry, we remade the bed and I packaged up the crockpot beef broth. S even folded his jeans and put them away — teamwork.
The one downside of garage-living cats in this deep freeze: Mr. Jenkins refuses to use litter for #2. If you ignore his polite request to step outside briefly, he will make a bold statement on the heated floor. Sheesh indeed.
The news warns of another frigid night, though slightly kinder days are ahead. After supper I cleaned up the kitchen, tackled pots and pans, and folded the final load of laundry in the bedroom while S watched the premier’s speech.
Right at 7, Olympics off — Peaky Blinders on. We finished Season 4 and rolled straight into the first episode of Season 5. B popped by as we were starting, fed the ponies, and Cooper curled up with us on the bed before they headed home.
Tonight’s intermission snack: smoothie instead of the usual yogurt fruit bowl.
Outside: Arctic blast.
Inside: clean sheets, Shelby drama, and memories of Dad warming the heart.

Vance, Ki, Trav and I celebrated heavenly birthday with oyster stew. New recipe. Quite nice! House organization and purging continues.
