Deadlines Met, Plants Potted, and Another Tech Letdown

After my two coffees, I was deep into the wall shelf tutorial, racing to submit the new stain colour photos just in time for the deadline, when my phone rang. A lovely FaceTime followed with Renny and her parents. S got up, made his coffee, popped his face into the screen to say hello, and watched as Renny proudly demonstrated walking on their new treadmill. Once goodbyes were said, S settled into Big Brown with his coffee and laptop, and I finished and published Sunday’s blog post.

Pet care came next for me—dogs and cats fed—then bundled up to toss a bale of hay to the horses. With more grass exposed now, I did a full poop-scoop loop while I was out there.

Back inside, I tackled accounting. Balancing the credit card took over an hour thanks to a stubborn 50-cent discrepancy and confusing Amazon charges that required a call to them to straighten out. S took Harley for a walk, then loaded the trash to take to town later. He ate lunch watching the news and brought me a cold beer while I wrestled the numbers into submission.

I heated a burger in the small fry pan for a late lunch, then moved on to plant care. The monstera with roots growing in water was finally potted up. The snake plant cuttings had rotted, so after trimming them back and letting them callous a few days back, I planted them in soil to see if that method works instead. I also carefully removed two aloe babies from Shaina’s pot and planted them in small containers.

S got a call from the spa company and went to investigate reinstalling the old hot tub panel. The newer panel—installed just over a year ago—has been unreliable and finally quit altogether, only working via the phone app. The verdict from the company: sorry, nothing they would do. Thankfully, the old panel still functions, even if it’s missing its cover (the very reason it was replaced in the first place).

While S was off to town with the trash after 3—and picking up Cooper at B’s request—I lifted one last aloe pup growing under a thick leaf and planted it, then potted up another dahlia and watered everything after fluffing the soil.

Deb and I finally connected after some phone tag, and I was chatting with her when S returned with Cooper and takeout before 4:30. It was a noodle bowl from the new Korean place, but I’d been hoping for more of a veggie-heavy stir-fry with skinny noodles. It felt dense and gummy, so I only ate part. S finished his and rated it a solid “meh.”

Later, we hopped in the hot tub, with B arriving just as we were getting out. We chatted while S headed to his sports TV, then B fed and went home. I rinsed off and tried starting a new show, Bad Influencer, trying the first episode. Reading felt like the better choice to end the day.
