Deep Freeze & Deep Focus

It was a blistering -25 when we woke — the kind of cold that makes the windows look extra thick and the outdoors feel unbearable. I delivered one coffee to the prince in bed after 7:30, then relocated to the island with my puzzle while S fired up the Olympics.

Yesterday's progress and what I have left to do

The Canadian men hit the ice around 8:30, so naturally the house split into two headquarters: Puzzle Command and Olympic Central.

I took a break at 3 to publish Monday’s blog and finish up yesterday’s post, then it was right back to the pieces.

Some practical productivity squeezed in too — I brought in the crockpot, packaged up the beef broth for Harley (queen of custom cuisine), and set another pot of bones simmering. Her raw food arrived as well so she will be stocked up.

B arrived at 4, having picked up a jug of milk for us — THANK YOU! — then braved the bone-chilling cold to do a lightning-fast feed before heading straight back home. No lingering in -25. Sensible.

Evening carried on much the same: Olympics for S, puzzle obsession for me. Supper was a brief intermission. S attempted salmon in a fry pan, grew frustrated, pivoted to leftovers, and retreated to bed. I finished cooking the salmon and rewarded Harley with the skin.

end of the day puzzle progress

At 7 we resumed Peaky Blinders and managed to stack a few more episodes onto the growing tally.

Outside: arctic.
Inside: sports, puzzles, salmon, and Shelby drama.
