I woke up feeling refreshed at 8 am, thinking, “Wow, Harley slept through the night!” But then I went to make her coffee and saw that she was still locked in her kennel. Good grief, we’re terrible dog parents. I made sure the prince had his coffee before he headed off to church. I also had a couple of calls with Debby, who was part of a tragic event involving their friends of 26 years with whom they were vacationing last weekend. The man called Deb, saying his wife needed her help. Deb arrived five minutes later to find that he had taken his own life. It was an awful situation for everyone involved.
Harley is on a fast again it seems (in reality I think she is holding out for fresh bison) so I loaded photos and published Fridays blog, wrote yesterday's along with photos and created a Hometalk post for the navy chair. I was feeding Harley her breakfast at noon when S returned home from church with hot chai teas. S has arranged for more bison buyers to come today, and a few stragglers this week.
Mom K called to inform me that the blood in Papa's stool has been diagnosed as a possible bleeding stomach ulcer. The surgeon will be coming soon to talk treatment but currently treating it with intravenous medications. The pneumonia is being treated with antibiotics, and he is taking painkillers that make him sleepy and a bit disoriented. The sudden increase in blood sugar might be due to inflammation. It appears that they are gaining more insights, but she suggests Sheldon visit the doctors himself to get a firsthand account.
Seeing that bison buyers were arriving thru the day, I told him to go and I will handle bison, so he got busy packing his suitcase. While he was packing his bag, I brought up the brown table that a girl in the Hat was interested in. Naturally, I noticed some touch-up areas, so I quickly fixed them. I was just about to wash my brush when a couple arrived to pick up two fresh bison livers.
Then, he unpacked his truck of burger packages and placed them on the deck and in the freezer, where I had created some space. He also had some heads and legs to remove from the back of the truck. While he was doing this, I prepared a pork sandwich, vegetables, and a hot bowl of soup for him. He quickly devoured the meal and left by 2:30 PM, returning briefly to retrieve the two large packages of pork hocks that I was sending to Mom K.
I reached out to a friend who has previously has gotten liver from us. She dehydrates them and uses them as a topping for her dog’s food. She was thrilled to receive another donation and came over to collect the last one. Before she left, we had a brief conversation comparing our flu viruses. Afterward, I thoroughly cleaned all three large coolers that were used to transport the organs back. I then bleached them and left them to dry.
My custom project needs to be completed, but I’ll delay it until tomorrow. I made some calls to Nathan because he couldn’t calm Renn down for most of the day. She did nap for almost three hours today, but then she got mad when he woke her up. She wanted to go back to bed. It was a tough day for both of them.
Sheldon made it to the Hat by 5, stopped at the house then off to the hospital with Mom K and Candace to meet the dr for
Harley devoured her supper in a flash, but it was a deer meal, which she adores. Before 6 pm, a buyer arrived to pick up seven more bags of burgers. I placed the last one in the freezer because it belongs to a neighbor whose father is currently in palliative care. ;( I prepared myself a salad, added some chicken and cheese, and called it supper before retiring to my bedroom to update my blog while simultaneously starting a new series called Bad Sisters.
Papa Carl was taken into surgery at 7 a.m. to stop the bleeding ulcer. After a 2-hour endoscopy, they found an ulcer, but it wasn’t the source of the bleeding, so they’ll do more tests tomorrow. Back in his room, he was given morphine to relax and get a good night’s sleep. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery, Papa. I finished my new series at midnight and am off to sleep too.
