Damn if Harley didn’t insist on leaving at 3:30 and 5:30 to attend to business, but I suppose the enticing aroma of meat had her on high alert as well. To combat the freezing temperatures of -20 degrees, I brewed a cup of coffee. While I was in the shower, S FaceTimed Kaylin and Nathan. The first customer arrived at 10 to collect his burger. It was then time to slice and package up the bison muscle & organ meat for Harley that S had brought back.
Mom K called to inform us that Papa was taken to the hospital’s emergency room because his shoulder pain worsened, and he became slightly incoherent. They went through triage, and he was admitted to the hospital with blood sugar levels of 16 and possible pneumonia. I’m relieved that he’s there receiving the best possible care.
I applied clear coat to the trunk to prepare for the final technique while S was engrossed in his bison list and endless texts with buyers. The rotisserie chicken proved useful for a lunch sandwich. B left after lunch, bundled up as the temperature had dropped to -17 degrees Celsius to feed her horses. She headed to her warm house in about 30 minutes. Buyers kept arriving to collect their burgers.
At 2:30, we bundled up and drove over to the winery. S had received a text from Phil, the new owner, inviting us pop over for a soft launch. Upon arrival, we found the parking lot packed, which was the first indication of the miscommunication. When we entered the black-tie gala event, we realized there had definately been a mix-up somewhere along the way. The receptionist was asking for our registration names and the wine ticket price list, further confirmed our misunderstanding for a casual visit. We quickly retreated back to our car, leaving the winery in our winter boots and casual attire and headed home.
S returned to his bison sales in big brown, while I worked on tutorials. I also relished reading on the bed in the radiant sunshine until sunset. For supper, I prepared our favourite cream of mushroom soup. There’s nothing quite like a warm bowl of soup on a chilly day. S started a fire in the fireplace, another perfect cold day addition.
Amanda and Craig arrived after supper to collect their burgers and finally enjoy an evening of catching up after our month-long illness. It had been a while since we last saw them, last year actually, so there was a lot to discuss. They headed home after 11 p.m. While S watched the sports highlights, I watched an episode of Bling. Afterward, it was time for bed.
