It appears that Harley has established a consistent 5:30 am bathroom break, unless she’s locked in the kennel. When she went out, the temperature was a bone-chilling -24 degrees Celsius, while the house was only 19 degrees Celsius. After enduring a particularly intense coughing spell, I must have fallen asleep, as I didn’t wake up until my usual 8 am. I quietly perused Instagram, admiring the beautiful golden sunrise, just like yesterday’s photo. After that, I brewed a cup of coffee and settled into my blogging routine.
Little miss went to school today - outer space is this weeks topicI had another chicken sandwich for lunch and then threw the bones into a pot to make soup. Harley’s food was ordered, so the treat dishes can be mixed with regular raw tubes. My cough is still bringing up phlegm, which occasionally is light green. My doctor’s followup appointment suggested that green (or other shades of yellow - orange) phlegm indicates bacterial infection, so she wanted me to try another round of stronger antibiotics—the ones Sheldon took. I guess that means his was the better choice, even though it cost twice as much. She also suggested that if I visit the hospital, I should wear two masks just to be sure.
Good news came today when Papa looked and felt much better. Sheldon and Mom K headed to the hospital at 11. When they arrived, he was peacefully sleeping without any more fresh bleeding or blood bags administered. It seems the medication is working.
The doctor’s update revealed that they’ve identified a bacteria in the fluid extracted from his knee and shoulder. They’ll perform a surgical orthotic wash to remove and customize his antibiotic accordingly. It appears that he was diagnosed with thalassemia by his cardiologist a few years ago. Additionally, it turns out that the ulcer was actually treated last night. It’s possible that the ulcer was triggered by the Aleve he was taking for his knee pain all week, exceeding the recommended dosage, as the bottle does mention the potential for stomach bleeding.
In other health news Nathan had a day. Here is his info from his blog. "Amidst these decisions, the day presented its own set of challenges. Following a virtual consultation, my doctor recommended bloodwork to investigate my lingering symptoms. I promptly headed to the lab, only to discover they don’t handle bacterial culture swabs. Undeterred, I contacted a nearby clinic and secured a 10:20 AM appointment. However, due to the doctor’s delayed arrival, I wasn’t seen until 12:30 PM and didn’t leave until around 1:15 PM. What should have been a straightforward task consumed a significant portion of the day. With that being said though, the verdict was bacterial tonsillitis and potentially something systemic given my overly high CRP levels. So now the plan is more antibiotics (penicillin V this time), some treatment for the thrush, and bloodwork in 2 weeks to see if the CRP levels are a reflection of the infection or not. We’ll also find out if this actually bacterial or not within the next few days hopefully. I’ve been through too many “-itis” based illnesses so I’m choosing to retire from them for a while."
I had crafted a new sample board for the custom trunk. The client is pleased with the new look, so that’s the final decision. I headed out and spent the afternoon working on it. Working with glaze is particularly challenging if you have OCD. This leads to touchups that cause further touchups and redos. UGH!!!
I washed up the brushes, and stacked the boxes at the door, expecting a lady to arrive for her appointment. However, she turned out to be unwell and canceled her pickup. To my surprise, Harley devoured her raw food supper in record time. After catching up on my blog, I finished my pot of soup for supper. It will be a perfect meal on a cold day. In fact, it’s already -9 degrees Celsius, and the temperature has risen significantly since the day started at -19 degrees Celsius.
I had a chat with S, Mom K, and Candace and listened on speakerphone for the doctor’s call at 5:30. They’re taking Papa for the orthoscopic cleaning of the knees and shoulders soon. I had my soup and then went back out to apply a second coat of glaze to the trunk. This coat went much faster, even though I had to wash the entire front off and redo it after my OCD messed with a small area.
B and Cooper were out to feed horses, so I sent Harley out to help. Of course, she only lasted for a short time. I was finishing up my blog and chatting with the client who loves her trunk so far. I’ll finish the blog tomorrow, and then she can finally go home. The client picked up the bookcase table today in the Hat and let me know it worked perfectly. We then discussed photo staging, and I marked all the sale sites as “SOLD.”
I finished my computer work at 9 and went to bed to watch more Bad Sisters while waiting for the surgery update. The update finally arrived around 9:30, indicating that he was in recovery and had returned to his room about an hour later to get a good night’s rest after another taxing day. Healing prayers, Papa.
