off to the race... horse sale

I was awake early but not as early as Dave who was off to Lacombe to train before 7,  S and I got up at 10 as Karli was bring picked up. B joined us for coffee then she and I ran to get the car left at the Caresland hall while S cooked up sausage on the barbeque. Eventually Kaylin and Aaron got up and ate as we had finished up and were getting ready to head to Olds for the annual Alberta Standardbred yearling horse sale.

We arrived just after it started at 3 and spent the next 3 hours watching 75 yearlings being sold. It was interesting watching the differences in the sizes and prices of these yearling standardbreds. The lowest price was $1000.00 up to highest with 2 at $30000.00!! In the end we thought we had our name in to purchase a filly named Rogue Shark but it seems there was some confusion. She was a 4-H project so I got the health records and contact of the family and we helped load his 3 purchases and headed home.

this is rogue shark ;)

We arrived back to the ranch at 8 and only minutes later the gal who was purchasing the pink jewel box arrived. It sold quick and was my first official Instagram sale.

We ate late and all hit the sheets to relax. Poor Dave was in a quandry having promised the filly as part of a share deal and to us so we backed out. The idea was fun while it lasted. ;)
