Wind, Plants & A Whole Lot of Indoor Wins

May the 4th be with you :)

Nathan sent Renn's perfect frothed milk moustache photo this morning <3

Today was another full-on wind day… the kind that makes you question all your spring motivation. After yesterday’s gusts, it was more of the same, so I started the morning hauling the bigger planters back into the garage, hoping to save them from getting completely battered but may be too late.

I sent the robot downstairs to tackle the basement bathroom—twice for good measure—then put all the freshly washed rugs and shower curtain back in place. One space officially done, which always feels good.

S took a slower approach to the morning, perusing socials and working on a crossword. He did mix tuna for our lunch sandwiches (appreciated), then it was right back to his brain games.

Meanwhile, I went full plant mode. I ended up transplanting four of my bigger plants, mixing up better-draining soil and giving them all a fresh start. It’s one of those tasks that quietly takes over your entire day.

S’s main project was Harley—full brush-out and bath—while I washed and replaced all her bedding. Clean dog, clean bed… short-lived, I’m sure 😄 He then headed to town for a few errands, making a pit stop to visit his hockey crew at McDonald’s before picking up Cooper and getting home just before 5.

I braved the wind briefly to water the strawberries and rescue a couple of the single-stem dahlia planters, then it was back inside for more repotting and plant shuffling.

Evening settled into its usual rhythm—hockey on for S, while I gave my rubber plant some extra attention, hand-cleaning the leaves (scale is back… dang). He did take a break to install a new carbon monoxide combo fire alarm, so not a complete hockey-only night.

I cooked up supper, and during intermission we snuck in a hot tub soak, luckily sheltered from the worst of the wind.

Back inside, S returned to hockey while I watched a couple episodes of Your Friends and Neighbors, made us yogurt fruit bowls, and wound down with some reading. S eventually joined me, did a bit of phone scrolling and reading of his own, and was out quickly.

  1. It is in fact a very satisfying feeling to clean a room, top to bottom but even tidying a portion of the room is a win. The plants will surely love your attention. Our trip to Drymheller went smoothly and Jessie and were just finishing lunch when Kimberly arrived.
