Sold Before Coffee & Battling the Wind

I woke up to the best kind of message — someone wanted to buy the jewelry box! And here I was worried I had priced it too high. She even sent a deposit to hold it until next week’s pickup. Nothing like waking up to instant reassurance that creating and the work put in is worth the effort ;)

The morning was spent outside bouncing between the yard and garage. S pulled out the pressure washer and started washing the trailer while I attempted to mow the long grass in the far paddock since the swather can’t fit through those gates. Unfortunately the mower had other plans, sputtering and stalling repeatedly. Seeing the fuel looked low, I abandoned mission and zipped it back before getting stranded.

Instead, I shifted into my usual puttering mode — garage tidying, watering planters, and pulling dandelions.

Inside, I finished up the jewelry box tutorial but can’t share it until the 18th when the new paint colour officially launches. Always hard sitting on a project I’ve completed.

At noon I made a quick town run on Britt’s request to pick up Cooper, who has apparently decided food is optional the last couple days. I returned library books and grabbed a rotisserie chicken for lunch while out too.

Back home before 1, Sheldon was out on the deck chatting with Craig. I made iced coffees and ate solo while their marathon phone conversation continued until after 2 — apparently nearly two hours long! By then I had already escaped back to the garage for more laundry and plant care.

I also started a new personal project. I have never been a fan of the yellow and blue on this metal bird cage, time for a change up starting with white spray paint.

I repotted my two snake plants which somehow turned into three plants, then brought them back inside. The dogs were begging for a walk so despite the absolutely awful wind, I bundled up and took them out. Honestly, who actually enjoys wind besides sailors and kite flyers?

The walk reminded me the winter pasture still needed a rock cleanup after harrowing, so Cooper joined me in the ranger while Harley stayed home supervising S as he vacuumed the trailer cubbies and floor.

The princess out for her "ride"

Back at the house I hauled more planters out from under the deck using the dolly, watered the strawberry plants and front raised beds while S finished mopping the trailer floor before retreating inside for hockey.

Supper was the last of Ma K’s cabbage rolls — absolutely savoured every bite. Afterwards I started watching The One on Netflix and wow… VERY different from the book. S continued his hockey marathon as usual.

Around 8 we both took a hot tub break just as B arrived. The mosquitoes above the tub were INSANE — first swarm of the season and hopefully not a preview of summer. She had a quick visit, ate her takeout, fed the horses, then headed home.

I made our usual yogurt fruit bowls while we each carried on with our separate shows. I made it through 5 of the 8 episodes before lights out, with S not far behind.

  1. Cooper looks comfortable. Was he waiting for you to read him a story?
