I return to the ranch

Why was I awake after 6:30? I lay there, pondering the upcoming week before getting up to fetch Renn an hour later. The plan for today was to feed her breakfast before she could ask Kaylin for "milky." It seemed to be effective as she happily ate her yogurt and oranges, albeit without blueberries. Nathan was up for his coffee, having managed about four hours of sleep last night, which was an improvement from previous nights. Kaylin joined us and prepared their egg and toast breakfasts. I opted for a coffee with Baileys, my second one this week. Perhaps the fancy coffees have indeed spoiled me.

Renn was dressed and ready for school by 9:30. After they departed, I loaded up Beans and left, granting Nathan some much-needed peace and quiet for rest. Returning to the ranch after a week in the city, I found Sheldon assembling the kitchen we bought for Renn's Christmas present. He joked that it was like an IKEA build on steroids, with countless pieces. I removed Bird's blanket since it was now -9, although it had been -2 in the city. The dogs were in full on play mode.

I got busy completing the tallboy tutorial to post and send to my paint company. Afterwards, it was shared in several necessary places. It appears that my plants missed their watering day, so I tended to them. This is the progress in the kitchen after 6-7 hours of custom building—seemingly halfway done. S made us grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch.

He loaded his hockey equipment and left for town after 1 PM. Meanwhile, I caught up on last Tuesday's blog post as the dogs took their naps. I plan to gradually catch up on the week's posts. Noticing a dip in home talk numbers, I composed a post for the green magnolia table. After a pleasant conversation with Mom K about the week's happenings, it was back to catching up on the computer. The day warmed up to -4°C, with Harley moving in and out to gnaw on her bones, followed by playtime with Beans and then nap time.

I gave Har her food at 4:30, but Beans was too distracted to eat. While I was preparing mushroom goulash, S returned from hockey, coffee klatch and having picked up some groceries after 5. The meal turned out to be a delightful combination using the rice still in the fridge as KD overruled while I was away. Noticing the weather was much warmer compared to last week (S hadn't used the hot tub during my absence), we decided to enjoy a soak. Although it was chilly stepping out, the experience was definitely worth it.

S returned to constructing the play kitchen while I wrangled the dogs and did a bit of online shopping for the Nellie's cleaning products that Kaylin prefers. The Go Fund Me campaign has surpassed $9000! B was out to feed and dropped in for a quick hello to Beans before leaving. The temperature is now -2 and expected to rise above 0 overnight. S completed the kitchen before 9, after about 10 hours of building, and Renn is sure to adore it. The chinook winds have begun to blow. We settled into bed with Beans and commenced season 5 of Yellowstone, thanks to Nathan generously sharing his streaming service.
