Huatulco Part 2 - our only excursion

The next morning, I still thought it best to stay back as my stomach was still upset and my cold had moved to my head. However, as I started moving, I felt a bit better I finally saw whale and its baby out in the water before putting on my suit, sunscreen, and coverup. We met the Stouts at breakfast, where I had a small portion of yogurt and fruit. We found a couple of bottles of water to take with us, off went at 8 am in a small taxi to magic cascades.

The road was incredibly narrow, winding, and concrete for much of its length, but it had speed bumps everywhere. Closer to the waterfalls, the road became narrow, dusty silt with many areas featuring sheer drop-offs. The hike up the waterfall trail was pleasant and cool, only two boys passing us.

quite the gnarly old trees

We did not get many photos all together on this trip, these are some of the few taken by our driver/guide on his GoPro.

He also showed the safe places to jump and took the boys under many waterfalls, along with Sharon, into a cave while I headed up to the swinging bridge to wait for them.

I was feeling chilled with my illness so glad to have a towel. I did not get in the water.

but you can't keep Nemo out of water ;)

my view

the guides videos

As you walk up the trail there are many levels of falls, and if you can believe it, this land is privately owned. Entrance to the park costs 100 pesos per person ($7 CND) and the taxi ride/guide cost 2500 pesos for 4 of us plus tip of 400 pesos. ($202 CND) so total of $116 CND a couple.

the boys went under these falls into little caves

This is the top falls. There is a fellow there in a yellow shirt that watches your bags for a fee while you got up the rope system.

To the left there is a pool of water that these 3 went into with the guide  which takes you to another cave.

S demonstrated his coffin and jackknife jumps.

I scaled my way over to be in the group waterfall photo

wild ginger they called torch plant

Nemo just can't stay out of the water

We were finishing the waterfall top tour when the crowds started to arrive, so our driver was correct about the early departure to avoid them.

The ride down the mountain was much easier on my stomach but everyone was sleepy. I am glad I made the journey even being under the weather. Back at the hotel it was time for a bite to eat for us as I was now hungry - the Stouts went for a nap, then we relaxed at the pool. We had supper at the Italian restaurant, our favorite spot for dinner. After eating, we usually walk around the resort for a few loops then to our rooms to watch Netflix. Unfortunately, my stomach issues returned. S has a cough that is breaking up and I have even more itchy bug bites. Darren and I are sacrificing for the group. Time to head to the room and call it a day.
