Huatulco is an hour ahead, I was awake before 7, which is 6 our time, but in bed making lists. Eventually, it was time to open the curtains and let the sun shine in. We headed down to the premium level bar for coffee and Baileys. The Stouts had gone for breakfast already but met us there to check on a lost reservation slip. We went to have breakfast, and they went to find chairs. We met them the chairs to relax and play dice with the fellows taking a dip in the ocean.
What a view right?
Out on the wee island out front, a couple fellows were changing the ripped flag. The ladder was uber scary looking with no safety harnesses in sight.
We had lunch before they went for a nap and us to our room to enjoy relaxing on our deck/patio/balcony. S tried to get a lounge chair sent up but no luck, I tried saying a lay down chair as the word but again all we got was room service call backs. Room 348 is amazing views and 2 walls of windows.
seems they got the new flag in place ;)
LOADS OF BUTTERFLIES are here. We tried to walk the beach daily before the heat settled in. This is at the far west end of our beach.
There were quite a few weddings out our window while we were there.
full moon between the huge royal palms
The hotel entrance and huge Christmas tree
The days were all very similar with an early rise watching the sunrise with coffee in bed similar to home yet very different. Breakfast was usually yogurt and fruit for me and a varied assortment plate piled high for S.
There were only a couple ocean dips for the big guy and D but the girls never ventured in at all sticking to the pool.
The hotel hires a fellow who brought a falcon that flies around the pool area and kept the pesty small birds away. Interesting job.
My infected hangnail caused grief throughout the trip, thanks to Stouts for their medical kit with polysporin to help. Then I woke up from a siesta on Monday with a sore throat. UGH Lots of card games were played during the day and it seems bug bites at night. They are ninja bugs as I never see them at night. We took in a few evening shows but only one with traditional dances was worth the stop.
There are 3 formal dining spots and as premium level we could eat at any of them as often as we wanted. We ate at all 3- 3 times. This was first time at the Japanese sushi restaraunt.
fireworks to the west of us
our view outside the ground level
One hot afternoon we played cards in our A/C room
beach area to the east of us near Secrets
We enjoyed some time at the beach under a palapa
which of course has the sellers.
S checking out a carved wooden bison
appetizer at the Mexican restaurant
Tuesday I awoke before 6 (5 MST) sending prayers and heading energy to Nathan who headed into surgery at 8 (7 MST). We relaxed around the pool waiting to hear the results after taking a walk along the beach after breakfast.
Kaylin text before 1:30 he was out of surgery and in recovery with no information from the doctor. She was at work continuing to wait for an update. Eventually it was Nathan who called her and said he was doing ok and up walking around looking for jello. What a trouper this guy is.
Renn and Kaylin went to visit him at the hospital, this or her going to "school" today (the only day this week) ended up giving Renn the worst virus ever that will turn out to be our 2024 plague that hits most of us hard.
These good buddies even brought their same shirts and unexpectedly wore them to dinner on the same night :)
That evening supper was at back the sushi restaurant with a card game outside. Unfortunately I ended up with Montezuma's revenge. It was an unpleasant night and with a tour planned the next day I was leaning towards staying back as it is 1 1/2 hours of windy narrow roads one way.
