Today’s to-do list: rake, bale, sell, stage, weed. Repeat tomorrow. 😅

The day started sunny, with S up at 7:30 to check the gate in daylight. Yikes—it’s going to need major work. Thankfully, he got ahold of Dave the gate guy, who offered to come repair it under warranty (10 years later—thank you, Dave!). Coffee in hand, I posted a blog and did a quick market check, spotting a message from a lady interested in the black coffee table this afternoon.

Which meant one thing: my “store” (a.k.a. our house) needed to look presentable—because it reflects me. Time to fast-track the piles of “waiting for a home” items. Outside, I finished sorting and sweeping out the trailer, while S propped up the gate and readied the baler. He hauled a few loads to the big storage trailer and mezzanine, while I kept sorting, organizing, and power-vacuuming the main floor.

By midmorning, S had packed a cooler with lunch and snacks, and the two of us leveled the cargo trailer area—he ran the blade, I followed with the rake. As we worked, a fellow stopped to collect some free odds and ends S had purged from his shop.

At noon, S hit the road in his tractor, baler in tow—an hour’s drive just to get to the custom field. While cleaning, I decided it was time to part with my white sideboard, so I staged photos and listed it for sale. A quick sandwich at 1, then I glanced out to see the gate guy already at work. In under half an hour, he had it fixed—talk about customer service! With the sun shining, it turned into laundry day, too.

I had just finished hand-vacuuming the stairs down to my “store” when the ladies arrived at 2. B showed up right beforehand, for both cars, the gate repair had good timing. The women loved the coffee table instantly and bought it on the spot. We carried it out to their car, and off it went—sold! Cue the fun part: marking it sold across my page and sites. Thank you, kind lady!

After her eating her sub, B lounged on the couch while the buyers were here, then headed out to tend Roo’s feet today applying her rubber shoes. I uploaded videos, then braved the blazing 25°C sunshine to hand-pick quack grass around the fruit trees, hot tub, and evergreens. Later, Harley got the full spa treatment: brushing, bath, and fresh bedding in her kennel to dry.

By 6, I called S—he had been baling nonstop all day, only halfway through, and then the bad news: the A/C unit he just had repaired seized up. On a sweltering day, too. He planned to keep going until the bales got too tough. Meanwhile, I kept catching whiffs of bleach while watering—turns out S had shocked the well earlier. My nose picks up everything!

The evening settled into blog work, a little Spanish practice, and homemade pudding for dessert. Harley and I took our evening walk to the gate, where I snapped a photo of the repairs. Unfortunately, I noticed the gate guy hadn’t replaced the missing rockwork—looks like we’ll need grout or mortar to patch it ourselves. At least the gate is straight and works!

Back at the house, I watered planters and tomato beds in the golden hour, swatting at mosquitoes the whole time. I had just settled in to watch Love Is Blind when S and Donny rolled in at 8:30 after a long day in the field. They relaxed with a couple of beers on the deck before S came in for supper, a shower, and an episode of Bear Hunt. Then, finally, we called it a day.
