Storms, Sugaring & Saddle Time

I woke after 7:30 — naturally, since I knew I had to be ready to head out with B by 9. Kaylin was kindly fitting me in for a quick sugar session after B’s appointment, so my morning was a blur of coffee (thank you, S!), finishing up a blog post, and a bit of marketing before running out the door with yogurt and berries in hand.

coffee kid :)

B, being the sweetest, showed up with a salted caramel iced coffee for the ride — thanks, B! Meanwhile, S was already deep into bale sales and had arranged to meet a fellow at the custom place later.

We were a little behind schedule, and Kaylin teased us by text, but she worked her magic quickly. B was finished in no time while I turned and deadheaded plants around her shop. Then it was my turn — lower legs and armpits sorted (thank you, K!!). B even spoiled her with a cookies-and-cream cloud latte — the girl has her Papa and Dad’s sweet tooth for sure.

By angel numbers 11:11, we were back on the road. Stops included her naturopath for probiotics, the pet store (B’s happy place), and the mall where I returned two dresses while she browsed Chapters. Then off to the spa shop to get S’s hot tub water tested (naturally, I left with a bag of “must-have” products).

A detour to Strathmore let B stash her cold groceries and scoop her Fresh Prep delivery before we finally landed back at the ranch around 1:30. Quick lunches all around, and S already had the horse trailer hooked up. Drinks and snacks were packed, saddles loaded, and horses caught (Harley stayed home with B, much to her chagrin).

With storms forecasted in the mountains, we shifted plans and headed to Strath for a river ride. Not our usual path — Tyler’s girlfriend’s horses had claimed part of the area — but staying high on the butte gave us breeze enough to fend off the worst of the mosquitoes. Even so, poor Switch and Beibs were sometimes covered despite the bug spray.

Dark clouds rolled in as we made our way back, and we managed a lightning-fast untack as the first drops fell. Horses were loaded just in time, and the sky lit up as we drove home. Once back, we gave them their feed at the gate B left and ducked inside as the rain came down (just over a half-tenth).

rain coming down just after loading horses .. and creep GGK's Xmas ornament has a new home ;Z

S settled into his big brown chair with laptop and phone for sales calls, while I caught up on blogging. After a quick nap, he added the buffer to the hot tub, and we enjoyed a sunny evening walk with Harley once the storms cleared.

The day wound down with a round of accounting — mystery charges sorted thanks to S playing number caller — and then it was reading for me, scrolling for him, and bed.
