Garden Feast & A Fox on the Run

Oddly, I woke at 5 a.m. with my mind racing through a list that kept me occupied for an hour. Finally dozed off again until 8, when I got up, made a coffee, and settled into marketing tasks and blog updates. The prince slept in until nearly 9:30 again. Since it was cool and blustery with hay still too damp, I had arranged plans to go to Cole’s tomorrow, but once S woke he changed his mind—again—saying he’d probably be haying instead. Plans canceled.

🎉 Happy 55th Birthday, Dale! XOXO

After a shower, I  jumped back onto the computer while also troubleshooting a charge with Apple support and sorting out watch issues. I quickly tried on the dresses again with no vote from S. He had his toast, then headed out, deciding his plan for the day was to get tires repaired, have lunch, and pick up Cooper.

Can you see the hazy areas??

By noon we were on the road, Harley tucked in the back seat. Turns out the tires actually needed replacing, which meant an hour wait while new ones were mounted on rims. Lunch was at Roadhouse, then Walmart (where yet another pop pricing error had to be corrected and I picked up false lashes for the wedding while S grabbed motor oil). A quick beer-and-iced-tea stop at Sobeys, then off to collect Cooper. Of course, I discovered the lashes were the wrong sets, so it was back to Walmart for an exchange before returning for the tires.

S was dropped off at the swather to drive it home, while I returned to the ranch to feed Cooper (who had skipped breakfast). Then it was accounting time, plus troubleshooting more issues with customer service, followed by getting a Hometalk post for the black coffee table. Pinterest earnings have climbed again—such great passive income!

By the time S arrived back with the swather, he was installing the new tires on the rake, only to discover he really should’ve brought all four. At 4:30 he was back off to town with the other two. While feeding Harley, I saw him return at 5—only with the stems replaced, no more tires in stock. He spent the next while greasing up the rake, looking like Porky Pig by the end of it.

I picked peas, an onion, and let Roo out for herd time while S delivered the rake to the custom hay place. Potatoes went into the Instant Pot just as a buyer called about the car vacuum. She arrived just as a fox darted across the paddock with a gopher in its mouth, off toward the winery.

Supper was another garden-fresh feast—Sheldon’s favorite creamed chicken, plus spiraled zucchini with tomatoes, onions, basil, thyme, and oregano, along with baked potatoes. Truly worth every bit of gardening work.

The new tire caused travel issues, limiting S to a slow 30 KPH haul with the rake, so he missed hot supper. B, however, joined me for the feast and later fed the horses. She also claimed a big stash of soup-making spices Grama had sent back. By the time S rolled in at 8 to eat, she and Cooper were heading home. I caught up on today’s blog while he ate, then he washed up pots while watching football.

He capped off the night with a hot tub, and once back inside we crawled into bed and watched a couple more episodes of Celebrity Bear Hunt—only two left to go!
