Sunday - From the Marina to the Pea Patch

We were on the ball this morning—up, coffee in hand, I grabbed a shower, and we enjoyed blueberry granola yogurt bowls before packing Harley and heading to the marina. By 9:30 we were on the boat, greeted by sunshine and calm water. It was a gorgeous day, though the fish weren’t biting much—only three were caught before we headed in around 11 to start the dreaded pack-up.

Of course, the weather had to hit 27° on the very day we had to be out of the campground by noon. We said our goodbyes and were on the road by 12:30, stopping in Bassano for fuel. Pulling into the ranch at 2:30, we found Brittany riding Roo.

I jumped right into watering my bone-dry planters and small garden beds, hooked up the soaker hose in the big bed, and headed to the underground garden. The peas were so heavy they were pulling down the fence, so I called in my “volunteer” from Big Brown to help pick while I dug potatoes for Brittany, me, and Amanda. I also grabbed some tomatoes and an onion—destined for a fresh-from-the-garden supper.

in the city Nathan and Renn were making raspberry jam with their softer berries, yum!

Brittany and Cooper headed home around 3:30, and Sheldon and I retreated inside to escape the mosquitoes and enjoy the AC. I tackled the laundry and cleaned out the fridge. Later, a fellow drove out from Calgary to pick up the hearing aid TV system Sheldon had generously given away.

Supper was delicious—our garden produce did not disappoint. Afterward, we browsed winter vacation options before Sheldon went out to check the swather ahead of his planned second cut tomorrow, while I finished up the bar cart tutorial for the paint company. Still one more project to wrap up with the newly released colours.

We ended the day with a soak in the hot tub—it’s been far too long. The new chlorine dispenser worked perfectly, though the nozzles were miserable. Back inside, Sheldon showered while I read, then he caught up on X before we turned out the lights.
