Thursday — Sunshine, Smokies & a Side of KD Goulash

I stirred around 7, and not long after, Harley was up too. I suggested she settle back down—she humored me for about two minutes before deciding a bathroom break was in order. Out we went, then back to her kennel while I crawled under the covers and scrolled Instagram in peace.

By 8, I was ready for coffee but couldn’t wrangle the water jug without help, so I enlisted S as my barista assistant. With coffees in hand and Duolingo done, we stepped out into the gorgeous sunshine to start setting up camp.

Sharon finally got thru this am and they had ONE spot left, can you imagine our surprise when it was right next door to us!! They will be in the spot behind Sheldon in the below photo. That was totally meant to be with our now triangle of friends sites.

Such a good sport Harley is

Just as we were heading out with Harley for a walk, Doug rolled in. We pivoted  heading back to help him back in and set up, then settled in for a couple of hours of laughs. S manned the BBQ for smokies, which paired perfectly with the chips and salsa I’d brought out for our lunch.

Doug headed back to the Hat at 2:30, leaving me with my book and S with his lounger for an afternoon nap. Harley joined the napping club on the mat, and I eventually dozed off too. Once awake, we took a leisurely hour-long walk down to dog beach before heading back to camp.

S got a fire going while I threw together a KD goulash using the burger I’d thawed for zucchini boats yesterday—right up S’s culinary alley. After dishes, we tried our hand at the axe game as thunder rolled somewhere to the south.

The Stouts pulled in before 7 with their trailer and boat with his restored old Chevy, and once they were set up, we enjoyed a long campfire chat. They headed in around 10, and we wrapped the night with some Netflix in bed.

Seems little miss lost to jumping on a cot at daycare, at least no stitches yet like Auntie Shaina in her day
