More Hay Cut & Homemade Pizza

coffee kid

this was from Tuesday

Early to rise, early to marketing… is that a thing? 😊 Coffee and our usual hour of news in bed started the day, followed by a cream cheese bagel and chat with Mom K for S, while I dove into marketing. I even wrapped up a Hometalk for the upcycled jars as S fired up the swather to tackle the north side hay — with nothing but sun balls in the forecast, it was go time.

While he cut, I balanced two more months of credit cards (slowly but surely catching up). Then it was outside to turn water on the raised bed, pick carrots, tomatoes, and an onion, and whip together pizza dough for supper. S popped in for lunch before heading back out, and I went back to banking.

By 1:30, I was in town picking up Cooper, some beverages, and finally the mail — a month’s worth waiting. Back home, S was fixing a broken swather section, then headed back out with a cold beer in hand. I watered planters and deadheaded, then chopped suckers off a few Schubert trees while he did a hay sales pitch to some folks who stopped. The buyers left a deposit for 8 bales, and we celebrated with cold drinks on the deck — perfect at 21°C, no bugs, no wind.

Pizza went into the oven (a good day for cooking inside). After supper, we soaked in the hot tub, leaving it warm for B when she arrived after 7. Cooper earned his keep chasing a fox out of the east field — the same one we’ve seen lately. S spotted him earlier while swathing, and just the other night we saw him snacking on a gopher in the winter pasture.

Shower, yesterday's blog posted and caught-up (finally!), and an Etsy tile order rounded out the night. But word is new Trump tariffs will make parcels crossing the border chaotic starting August 29. B and Coop headed home, S settled in Big Brown with peas and his phone, and I finished dishes before relaxing with my book.
