Sunday was a rainy cooler day, above we are enjoying breakfast at Thongs Cafe; which will become S's favorite omelet place.
The Maya mountains are in the distance but hard to see in the photo
Seeing it was rainy and overcast we decided to go for a bike ride and see the town. Everyone rides bikes here and luckily our guest house has 4 to use.
action shot
We found this sweetly name boat along the beach.
And this white running horse at the White Horse Guest House
Back at the house it was nap time for some after that big bike ride.
This is Macara, she and her brother Kyrel are selling banana cake. Kyrel and another brother and 2 more of his brothers had hit us up last night while we played cards on Stout's deck. It was delicious but we had just eaten so passed on the $2 USD pieces.
Behind the napping fellow is one of the local houses. This is also where Platinum the guard dog barks from and the 2 little puppies live. This house is a hodge podge of people coming and going and usually has loads of empty beer bottles in the yard LOL Note the old couch on the beach and hammock as it seems to be a very laid back simple life here.
Everywhere is free range chickens and late crowing roosters that are always searching thru the grass, trash and seaweed.
Here is our guest house view from the beach
The Stouts join us for happy hour.
We upped the anti buying beer by the case rather then by the bag. Here are empties after a couple days of relaxing and hydrating.
Showered up and heading off for supper (Driftwood I think) but first the now full of empties crate was taken back to restock.
Monday
Breakfast today was at Siomara's to experience the local tradition called fry jacks; a deep fried tortilla like dough that tastes delicious with jam.
And off we went for a beach walk
I love this big ole tree they have supported and a sand berm at the base to help with erosion. It was 28 degrees C right then too as per my IG story post. It is a very humid country that makes your skin feel so plump and dewy.
It was so nice I even dozed off while reading my book for a wee bit.
Our lovely Southwater room … video tour in a few posts.
Tonight we were off to the Swinging Armadillo for supper. We heard they had the best fish tacos, they were good but not better then the Driftwood, both which are almost right next door to us.
